Case study
are made at Amadeus, and we’re always looking for our future stars to join us”
is underpinned by passionate ambassadors in the senior leadership team. For our apprenticeships programme, we
partner with local colleges to give aspiring chefs and hospitality leaders a taste of the industry, as well as a chance to learn from the cream of the culinary crop. The programme has increased the number of yearly intakes by 200% since 2011 and is something we want to continue to grow. We work closely with local schools to provide
work experience placements. Amadeus also delivers 48-week placements for students studying for a degree at university and have had many students join our team as a result. Our senior catering operations manager
John Dukes first introduced our placement programme 10 years ago, and our placement students have worked on a range of exciting events, such as the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games along the way. Many key members of John’s management team also joined Amadeus following their placement. Stars are made at Amadeus, and we’re
always looking for our future stars to join us on our exciting journey.

Amadeus provides apprenticeship qualifications at all stages, from level two to level seven. We offer apprenticeships to those that are new to the business as well as existing staff, to upskill and support them on their development journeys. Greg Sheppard joined the Amadeus chef
apprenticeship programme in March 2022, aged 17. He was previously studying an electrical course but wasn’t enjoying it and over the pandemic lockdowns, discovered his passion for cooking and baking. He wanted to build on this passion and join an organisation where he could work in a variety of exciting environments and no day is the same – one where the NEC Group and Amadeus perfectly fit. Amadeus works closely with University
College Birmingham to deliver our chef apprenticeship programme, where tutor Jill Costello praised Greg for his application and effort in his apprenticeship and his future potential in the business.
