Grammar – Pronouns

A pronoun is a word that takes the place of one or more nouns. Personal pronouns replace people or things (he, it, them), e.g. Sarah goes to ballet class with Fiona and Oliver.  She goes to ballet class with them.

Remember!

Possessive pronouns replace or come after the noun, e.g. That car is his.

A possessive pronoun shows ownership (mine, theirs). It is placed after or instead of the noun, e.g. I know that’s my coat.  That’s mine.

Possessive adjectives describe the noun, e.g That is his car.
