Underline the concrete nouns, ring the abstract nouns and box the collective nouns. Unit 3: Verbs 1 and homophones


1. Marina swung the bat at the ball so hard that it flew through the air, making a big hole in the wall.


2. I helped with the Junior Infants yesterday by tying their laces and giving them praise for playing nicely.


3. It’s good to wear a hat when the weather is hot so that your bare skin doesn’t get sunburned.


Ring the present participle and underline the past participle. Can you think of a homophone for any of the words in these sentences? Unit 4: Verbs 2, and ‘-ance’ and ‘-ence’


1. We cycled in silence until we saw the end of the track in the distance.


2. A man will be parking cars at the entrance to the restaurant for the convenience of the people eating there.


3. I have cleaned my room so that I can buy tickets with my allowance and be in the audience when my favourite band performs.
