AGEM February 2024 Recap l AGEM continues its work with Nevada Gaming Control Board and its initiative to modernise the regulation of gaming technology in Nevada. AGEM is currently reviewing response drafts from NGCB staff and will work with the AGEM Compliance Committee for feedback and supplier sector response. In another key US gaming jurisdiction, Pennsylvania, AGEM remains in ongoing dialogue with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board regarding industry concerns about recurring issues there. With the possibility of a larger effort surrounding gaming during the current legislative session, AGEM has engaged a government affairs firm to monitor developments, advise the association and advocate for supplier sector issues on any issues of concern.
l Te final ICE London show proved to live up to all the hype of being a record-breaking show. Official figures have not yet been released, but all indications are that visitor numbers exceeded expectations topping the 40,000+ visitors of the 2023 event. With the close of the show, Clarion will now focus on the relocation to Barcelona which will take place from 20 – 22 January 2025.

l Te AGEM Happy Hour event during ICE took place on Sunday, the 4th of February, at the Savage Garden Rooftop Bar of the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel London near Tower Bridge. Te social and network gathering provided a great opportunity for members and friends of AGEM to meet up before the hectic show schedule started. Being held for just a couple of hours late in the afternoon, it allowed attendees to pop in for a drink and light bite before going onto other industry events being held all over the city. Tis was the first event of this type AGEM has hosted outside of Las Vegas, and due to its success, more of these informal gatherings in and around the US and internationally will follow.
l AGEM’s Executive Director Daron Dorsey, Director of Responsible Gaming Connie Jones, and Director of Europe Tracy Cohen met with representatives for both GAMCARE, the leading charity for Problem Gambling in the UK, and YGAM, which focuses on informing, educating and safeguarding young people against problem gambling and social gaming, during their time at ICE. AGEM is a supporter for both organisations and was able to catch up on recent activities and future objectives as both charities depend on funding from the industry as well as the government. In the coming months, YGAM will be taking part in discussions with AGEM’s Responsible Gaming Committee as well as presenting to the wider AGEM membership.

AGEM INDEX
The AGEM Index increased by 49.28 points to 1,168.10 in January 2024, a 4.4 per cent increase from the prior month. Compared to one year ago, the index was up 215.67 points, or 22.6 per cent. During the latest month, six of the 12 AGEM Index companies reported stock price increases, which resulted in six positive contributions and six negative contributions to the AGEM Index. The largest positive contributor to the monthly index was Konami Corp., whose 23.6 percent increase in stock price led to a 37.27- point gain for the index. Aristocrat Leisure saw its stock price increase by 9.0 percent, leading to a 22.52-point gain for the index.

Clarion’s lead show director, Brian Sullivan, updated AGEM members on plans for the forthcoming show and reported that both pre-registration for the show and conference programme is currently tracking ahead of this time last year for the 2023 event. AGEM is a proud sponsor of the event, with funding going towards tribal education and scholarship initiatives.
l AGEM was proud to again support the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women event on February 29 at the Four Seasons Las Vegas, as well as the EKG Slot Awards on February 29 at the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas. AGEM is a long-time supporter of both events, attending and participating in both alongside its members.
AGEM is an international trade association representing manufacturers of electronic gaming devices, systems, lotteries and components for the gaming industry. The Association works to further the interests of gaming equipment manufacturers throughout the world. Through political action, tradeshow partnerships, information dissemination and good corporate citizenship, the members of AGEM work together to create benefits for every company within the organisation. Together, AGEM and its member organisations have assisted regulatory commissions and participated in the legislative process to solve problems and create a positive business environment.
