August, 2018 PVA Displays Conformal Coating Systems

Cohoes, NY — PVA is showcasing its Delta 8 selective conformal coating and dispensing system with a VPX- 2KA dual-component spray valve at NEPCON South China 2018. The company is also displaying

its Delta 6 selective coating and dis- pensing system with a FCS300-ES stainless steel extended spray valve and a JDX jet dispense valve. The Delta 8 maintains the pre-

ferred features of previous workcells, and contains a robust overhead three-axis motion platform suitable for inline or batch operations. Improved structural and gantry rigidity have been added for robust- ness and easier access. The Delta 8 has a maximum acceleration of 0.5 g (g-force), and a

footprint of 3.6 x 4.3 x 7.9 ft (1.1 x 1.3 x 2.4m). The Delta 6 shares the same features as the Delta 8, but has been designed with a slimmer footprint of 3 x 3.6 x 5.2 ft (0.9 x 1.1 x 1.6m) and a maximum acceleration of 1 g. The VPX-2KS dual-component

spray valve is a progressive cavity metering valve capable of accurately spraying 2K chemistries in a clean, flexible atomized process. Features include: high precision

(±2 percent, depending on material); servo-controlled; programmable 1:1 to 10:1 ratio; works with filled or unfilled fluids; will not damager or alter filler properties; syringe, car- tridge or remote reservoir feed; easy disassembly and cleaning; ability to process short pot life mixtures; and

integrated pressure monitoring at the pump outlet. The FCS300-ES extended spray

valve provides a repeatable, concen- trated coating film in circular pat- tern widths ranging from 0.13 to 0.5 in. (3.3 to 12.7 mm). Features of the spray valve

include: low-pressure, low-volume atomized process; 300 series stain- less steel fluid body for superior material compatibility; micrometer flow adjustment with lock nut; divorced valve design prevents material contamination of the air section; compatibility with all com- mercially available conformal coat- ings; and a wide viscosity range that offers versatility for virtually any spray application. The JDX jet dispense valve is

an extremely fast, non-contact jet dispenser that precisely dispenses viscosities up to 400,000 cP, while its diaphragm is designed to save time and money. The valve offers repeata- bility, and with no z-axis movement to slow it down, can move swiftly and easily to jet into hard-to-reach areas. Its diaphragm design allows fast cycle rates, due to its very small mass. This distinctive design in - cludes a single, easily replaceable diaphragm that eliminates the dynamic fluid seals common in other jets, and the need to remove the jet from the robot to clean and replace worn seals. tion rates, low-to-no tolerance for poor quality and the increasing cost of raw materials, a maximum level of data analytics with key process indi- cator priorities is essential. According to the company,

Siemens’ Amberg site has achieved 99.99885 percent production quality on an annual output of 12 million PLCs.

It is expected that the increas-

ing demand for battery solutions, coupled with the decline in shipping these products from Asia, especially China, will open up new opportuni- ties for localized manufacturing. New factories, such as the Tesla gigafactory, will likely become the rule, not the exception. Contact: Siemens Digital
