cused on micro-lead-free solder ma- terial, aiming for high-quality, envi- ronmentally friendly products. In 2016, the name was changed to the SHENMAO Advanced Materials De- velopment Center. Since then, the company has

been awarded several quality accred- itations and standards, has set up of- fices in Thailand, Germany and the U.S., and received an “Industrial Sustainable Excellence” award. Mr. Watson Tseng, general

manager, joined SHENMAO when he was only 25. “I joined SHENMAO as a freshman with very little knowl- edge of the product. Chairman Lee has patiently offered me training and many opportunities through the years, allowing me to thrive and learn a tremendous amount about the industry,” says Tseng. “Like a fa- ther, he has taught me many things. There was one time that I encoun- tered some difficulties with a cus- tomer’s request and hesitated to ask for advice. Chairman Lee came to me and said, ‘We should face challenges bravely.’ I did as he instructed and the customer was satisfied. It has been my motto ever since.” San-lien’s son Kelvin is now the

CEO of SHENMAO and is described by his colleagues as personable, down-to-earth and easy to connect with. “We’ve worked together for years and conquered many chal- lenges,” Tseng adds. “Before he joined the management team, chair- man Lee assigned Kelvin many dif- ferent job functions to ensure he had a full knowledge of the company. This combination of father and son, chairman and CEO, is amazing for the company. Chairman Lee is brave and experienced, while Kelvin is vig- orous and creative. I feel truly blessed to be able to join and grow with such a wonderful team.”

Count On Tools: Gainesville, Georgia

Family-owned and operated, Count On Tools (COT) was founded in 1991 by Curt and Renee Couch, president and vice president and CFO, respectively. Before cofound- ing the company, Curt had several years of experience as a mechanical engineer in the electronics manu- facturing industry. The company has grown steadily over its 27 years in business. Renee has always stayed out of

the public eye, but has been integral to the company since its founding. Her early involvement included everything from front office order entry to cus- tomer service, purchasing, shipping, accounting, and more. As with any small, family business, Curt and Renee have had to wear many hats — while raising three children. “Over the course of our busi-

ness’ growth, we have been both blessed and strategic to bring on fan- tastic, talented, energetic, and most importantly, family-oriented cowork- ers to take on the expanded role of building what we have today,” says Renee. While she tends to stay out of the spotlight, this does not diminish her role in the company. “I still continue to be involved

daily with decisions related to the growth of COT, whether it’s signing off on machine or facility procure- ment, expanding our workforce, fil-

ing taxes, or keeping us compliant with all of our time-sensitive certifi- cations. Curt and I consider each team member an integral part of our success. Yes, Curt and I did start this journey, but we would never be where we are today without our tal- ented team,” Renee says. While not technically family,

several team members have been with the company since the begin- ning, including Zach and Donna Shook, Jeff Lancaster, and Tate Strayhorn. “It has always been excit- ing to develop new ideas with my team at COT. We have such great people employed here and I am hon- ored to work with them,” adds Curt. “COT is an exceptional company be-

cause we handle adversity so well. We are never afraid of change and we are able to quickly adapt to most cir- cumstances, including new chal-

lenges from customers.” The company is now a quality

supplier of precision-engineered com- ponents to a wide range of markets. Using advanced CNC and other man- ufacturing capabilities, COT has a track record of excellent quality, price and delivery. Passing these ad- vantages on to the customer creates long-term relationships. While the company came from

humble beginnings, it has strived for excellence. Curt and Renee have built a company with a 27-year histo- ry of organic growth and sustained profitability, while delivering global solutions for SMT nozzles and con- sumables to the electronics industry.
