Hope to Bump into You Soon
Phoenixville, PA — Over the past few weeks, we’ve amazed ourselves with how much we can accomplish virtually. While some struggled with ZOOM early on, at this point most of us have become experts. Now the buzz is “ZOOM fatique.” Looking back some five or six
years, we used to chuckle about the antics of our Editor Emericus, Walter Salm, as he planted his dish antenna atop his Winnebago, so he could work evenings in between spring training baseball games. Walter was ahead of the curve, con- sidering where most of us are, today. So now we’re experiencing a
new phenomenon — the virtual trade show. It will be interesting to see who best lays out these events online, to tantalize an atten - dee to spend hours (or more?) catching up on all his/her informa- tion items of interest. And guess what. You might
want to “attend” a tradeshow that you never would have, otherwise. But call us stir crazy. We want
to look down an aisle and see an old friend coming our way; to enjoy the conversation with an enthusiastic engineer; to check in with the movers and shakers, it's what we all like to do. We call it work, but it’s interesting, refreshing, and fun. In short, we hope to bump into
you soon! r

tors personalized recommendations. Attendees can participate in face-to- face discussions with industry sup- pliers, negotiate orders, enjoy onsite activities, and attend conferences
and forums. Exhibitions co-located with
NEPCON Asia 2020 include the Smart Factory & Automation Technology Expo, Electrotest China, Automotive World China, AHTE South China, and Connecting Expo. A clear trend over the past few
years, the smart factory will be high- lighted at the S-Factory Expo. Intelligent manufacturing is based on a deep integration of a new gener- ation of information communication technology and advanced manufac- turing systems. This runs through all aspects of manufacturing, includ- ing design, production, management, and service. Smart factory goals include the ability to learn, make
decisions, self-execute, and adapt to new production methods. At present, many factories are
facing the challenge of combining automation, digitalization and legacy systems, leading to unevenly devel- oped resources and technologies.
