Page 59 Ironwood Aids Manufacturing of Mechanical Ventilator
Eagan, MN — When the Minneapolis StarTribune published an article informing the community of a local effort at the University of Minnesota to solve an urgent need for ventilators, design engineer Chad Sandell and CEO David Struyk agreed that Ironwood should offer help. Less than 24 hours after sending their offer,
the Coventor team responded with part models and a request for 25 prototypes of three critical custom components — a plunger, bushing and con- trol arm. Lacking part specifications and requiring a material Ironwood did not stock, the company immediately prioritized these parts. In a parallel and well-coordinated team
effort, Ironwood created specifications, acquired material, manufactured and hand delivered the prototypes to the University of Minnesota. For the company, this represented a radical shift in process and production. Accustomed to manufac- turing precision test sockets for the semiconductor industry, Ironwood is not ordinarily in the business of gen- eral-purpose machining.
SCHURTER Launches Single-Stage Filter Series
Santa Rosa, CA — FMAD CP is the latest single-stage filter family for three-phase systems, equipped with a neutral line, from SCHURTER. The extremely compact and high-per- formance filters are suitable for use in the tight spaces commonly found in today’s machinery. The new filter family is suitable
for devices with high EMC loads at low or medium power. Typical appli- cations include converters for photo- voltaics, battery storage or charging stations for electric vehicles. These

Since then, numerous Coventor team mem-
bers have expressed their appreciation to Ironwood for its support. If approved by the FDA, demand for these ventilators will likely spike into the thousands, with units potentially shipped around the world. The community at large also stepped up their offers to help, so much, in fact, that the Coventor team had to turn away numer- ous offers for help. The team at Ironwood, whose rapid response
has contributed to the effort to save lives during the pandemic, is proud to be a partner in this project and
a member of the community in this time of need. Contact: Ironwood Electronics, 1335

powerful compact filters are also the desired choice for modern frequency inverters for motor control. A high-performance version
using chokes with high inductance and a larger X capacitor ensures that both symmetrical and asymmetrical interference can be suppressed more effectively. A metal flange screwed to the chassis provides a ground connec- tion. Its quick-connect terminals measure 0.25 x 0.03 in. (6.3 x 0.8 mm). The standard FMAD CP can be
used across a temperature range of –40 to +212°F (–40 to +100°C), though the filter specifications are designed for currents from 3 to 20A at an ambi- ent temperature of 122°F (50°C). The FMAD CP carries ENEC and cURus approvals for applications up to 520 VAC maximum. Versions with differ- ent leakage currents are available for
various applications. Contact: SCHURTER, Inc., 447
