2.4 GHz BLE Modules


Waldenburg, Germany — Würth Elektronik has launched two flexible 2.4 GHz Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 5.1 modules —the Proteus-III and the proprietary Thyrone-I. The modules measure 0.3 x 0.5 x 0.08 in. (8 x 12 x 2 mm). They are based on the Nordic Semiconductor nRF52840 chipset and have integrated antennas, encryp- tion technology and six config- urable IO pins. Designed for IoT and


M2M applications, they can be used to build radio-based maintenance interfaces and sensor networks. The We- Proware firmware from the company, which has been proven in industrial use, makes the modules extremely versatile. Proteus-III was developed to


realize the possibilities of the BLE 5.1 standard. With a payload of up to 964 bytes, the module offers four times the throughput of previous BLE modules. It can also establish connections in the newly introduced long-range mode to transmit data over long distances. The Proteus-III offers an alternative to the SPP mode for serial data transmission, which is no longer included in the standard, but is extremely useful for industrial applications. The series uses step-down, non-isolated power mod- ules that operate from an input range of 9 to 53 VDC, with a wide, adjustable output voltage range of 3.3 to 24V. The DDA is suitable for gener-


ating additional low-cost, high-cur- rent outputs from an existing 24V bus in industrial, semi fabrication and test and measurement equip- ment. Three models are available in the DDA series. A single nominal output with +12V, 20A, a dual output with +12V, 20A or +5V, 20A, and a dual output with +12V, 14A or –12V, 8A. Output power is typically 250W for each of the positive outputs and 75W for the negative output.
