34 Leading Pump Manufacturer Increases Capacity Through Relocation
Unibloc Pump, a US-based leading manufacturer of sanitary positive displacement pumps and products, announces the relocation of its headquarters to Kennesaw, Georgia, USA. This facility is three times larger than the previous building in Marietta, offering increased production capacity to meet customer needs and accommodating the company’s advanced manufacturing technologies.
“With the move to Kennesaw, Unibloc is well-positioned for future growth and to better meetthe needs of its customers and continue to provide,” said Eric Soderstrom, Sales Engineer at Unibloc Pump. “This facility gives us the space needed to increase and improve our manufacturing capabilities and provide our customers with the fast, reliable service they deserve.”
Located at 1650 Airport Road, Suite 110, the facility houses several production and display areas, as well as technological advancements that will greatly enhance productivity and effi ciency. This includes a dedicated Research & Development and quality control lab; a pharmaceutical-only, sterile product assembly room; and a larger warehouse to stock more pumps and accessories, such as strainers, valves and bubble traps.
The increase in workspace and new technologies will allow Unibloc to offer more ready-to-ship product inventory. The most popular pumps, as well as products for high-risk applications, will be kept in stock for quick delivery. The Kennesaw location also includes an exhibition room for customers to view fully-assembled products and create their ideal solution; a training room for both employees and customers to receive hands-on product training and demonstrations; and additional testing space for more opportunities for customer-specifi c testing. Engineers now will be able to test outside products for customer-specifi c applications.
In addition to manufacturing, all departments will operate out of the Kennesaw headquarters including executive management, sales and marketing, shipping, operations, engineering, product management, accounting, and administration. Employment opportunities for inside and outside sales representatives are available, and Unibloc will be adding opportunities in the engineering and production departments later this year.
“Our new facility will create an economic opportunity for the Kennesaw area, while being conducive to long-term growth for our employee base and acquiring new talent,” said Soderstrom. “This is our next step to becoming one of the biggest and best pump companies in the US.”

Unique Product Provides Protection from Air-borne Pathogens and Enhances Face-to-Face Communication When the Melaphone®
Speech Unit was designed 50 years ago for the booking offi ces at British Rail stations, nobody could have predicted that half a century later it would suddenly be in such high demand.
The current Corona Virus Pandemic had created an urgent need for all protective equipment - both for personal use and in the working environment. This is the reason the Melaphone®
has come into its own again. Its unique design, with its resonating membrane and air-sealed
construction, make it the ideal device to install in any situation where face-to-face communication occurs. It not only offers protection from air-borne viruses and pathogens, it also enhances and clarifi es the frequently muffl ed sound when people speak through a screen. Its protective credentials have been certifi ed to ISO 16555 Class 5 - indeed, it has often been specifi ed by architects and designers for use in hospitals, laboratories and cleanrooms or anywhere hygiene is of paramount importance. It is a simple but really ingenious invention which requires no servicing, wiring or electrical supply. And it is very easy to keep clean and safe with an antiseptic wipe.
The Melaphone® has now been built into the new Defender Virus Screens produced by the company and numerous doctors’ surgeries, medical
centres, clinics and pharmacies in the UK have had these screens installed with considerable success and approval. The screens are individually made and every component is of the highest quality, giving a clean, sleek and professional appearance in any health-care environment.
The Melaphone® is still available as a stand-alone unit for installation into walls, glass or plastic screens, windows or doors. It can easily be retro-
fi tted into existing structures and requires no special skill to install. The range has also been expanded to meet the growing demand for the units. In addition to the original brushed aluminium model there is a stainless steel model, a white powder-coated aluminium model and the newest and highly successful Himacs acrylic-resin model, which is at a very popular price.
All of these models are available from stock and can be purchased from Melaphone VisAudio. More information online:

High-Torque/High Speed Stirrers Offer Maximum Effi ciency and Safety
Wiggens introduces the new generation overhead stirrers WB3000-D, specifi cally designed for high-torque applications and/or high speed applications where conventional stirrers reach their limit with regard to sample viscosity or speed requirements.
The WB3000-D offers a high resolution TFT display screen, which not only shows the current speed and torque, but also the set speed, gear stage, controlling mode and timer settings. With a BLDC motor, it is highly benefi cial to the durability of the product. In comparison to AC motors, BLDC motors are more quiet, robust and maintenance free. In addition, WB3000-D employs a two stage gear transmission box for optimal processing of high torque at low speeds or low torque at high speeds. A special feature is the smart torque adjustment that enables the stirrer to maintain the set speed even if the viscosity of the sample changes during the stirring process. The latest chuck design allows easier impeller changes and guarantees that the impeller sits perfectly.
The housing is made of die-cast aluminium and features heat reduction fi ns, which contributes to keeping the unit cool in long-term applications. An RS-232 and RS-485 input as well as analogue control make the stirrer highly versatile and adoptable for different applications.
Three basic packages for quick confi guration are available: P1 includes the stirrer and stand; P2 includes the stirrer, stand and S.S. impeller; P3 includes stirrer, stand and PTFE impeller. The accessory section gives advice on the best type of impeller and the right length of the shaft for each application. A remote version, WB3000-DF, is also available.

Full Package of Analytical Lab Services for Successful Product and Process Development Offered
Biopharma Group is well known for its freeze drying expertise including our R&D consultancy, and analytical lab services such as process, product characterisation and cycle development, scale up and specialist pre-lyo or post-lyo analysis packages the global biopharmaceutical and process industries. The company’s aim is to provide a world-class service to its customers and meet the precise needs of your projects whether this be an individual analysis or a complete formulation development programme. In addition to uniquely comprehensive analysis services, Biopharma offers lyophilisation training courses covering lyophilisation technology from pre-formulation to full-scale production and dried product analysis.
Biopharma’s expertise also extends to analytical instrumentation having developed the most advanced freeze drying microscope (FDM), the Lyostat5 and the Lyotherm3 frozen state impedometer to provide the most accurate data relating to critical event stages. Establishing the behaviour of frozen state solutions is essential for many industries. Understanding the critical events for each solution can improve longevity and effi cacy of a product. Having detailed and clear phase transition data allows for determination of clear parameters which, in turn, will result in increased effi ciency, stability and productivity.
The most effective method of determining these phase transitions is impedance analysis (Zsin). The Lyotherm3 combines both electrical impedance and traditional thermal (DTA) analysis techniques allowing for greater detail and more informed decision making.
When used in conjunction with Biopharma’s Lyostat5 (FDM), a complete picture of the behaviour of the frozen material can be obtained. The Lyostat5 establishes accurate knowledge about the product’s collapse behaviour which is vital when developing a new cycle, scaling up or developing a formulation, saving time and money.
