8 High Technology Gas Generators for Every Application

Leman Instruments has developed rapidly to become a leading European company specialising in the field of high technology gas generators. The specialist modules of scientific equipment concentrates on the provision of standard products, OEMs and in custom designed realisation involving high purity Hydrogen (H2

), Nitrogen (N2 ), Zero Air and combined solutions for FIDs, GCs, purge air generations, CH4 and CO2 scrubbers, N2 and multi gas for LCMS.

Individually equipped with high performance communication interfaces (RS485, Ethernet and WLAN options), the reliable instruments significantly reduce operational costs and provide a solid return on investment within the space of two years. Suitably slotting into laboratory, air quality monitoring and industrial environments, the apparatus has been strategically constructed to suit the majority of these related applications.

These premium quality modules also provide high pressure stability, essentially improving upon the resolution and detection limits of instruments, whilst the constant purity ensures there will be no contamination concerns. Integrating Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM), Pressure Swing Absorption (PSA) and Catalysis technologies, they can be easily controlled via a touch panel or iPad, proving incredibly easy to install and operate.

One of Leman Instruments’ newest innovations is its combined technology gas generator, the GC Station 60LC. The single unit incorporates an inboard compressor and is a concept unlike any other currently offered in the marketplace.

Another notable product from Leman Instruments is the range of Hydro 50ml/min to 15 l/min High Purity Hydrogen Generators for FID and Carrier Gas to fit almost any type of application which needs High purity H2 production close to the consumer in laboratory environment.

Based on the field proven Solid Polymer Electrolyte (PEM) cell technology, pure Hydrogen is produced at low pressure from electricity and high quality distilled water (Zero Water). This process can be started on demand and does not require any caustic solution. The produced Hydrogen is available 24/7 with constant minimum purity superior to 99.995% and maximum at 99.99995% at output flows of 50ml/min to 15 l/min (depending on the model.) The H2 output pressure is regulated electronically and can be set from 0.5 to 10 bar. (7 to 140 psig).

Solutions for SVOCs, VOCs and PAHs in Ambient Air Announced

The airmoVOC C6-C20+ auto-GC-FID analyser from Chromatotec is a specific instrument dedicated to the measurement of Hydrocarbons from C6 to more than C25 (linear alcanes) with a sensitivity in the range of low ppt (ng/m3).

Volatile PAHs measured in standard are: naphthalene, 2-methyl-naphtalene, 1-methyl-naphtalene, acenaphthene, acenaphthylene, fluorene, phenanthrene and anthracene. Recently, benzo(a)pyrene has been analysed.

It has already been deployed in various French reference institutes and universities to monitor PAHs in industrial site, tropical forest and sites under decontamination.

When coupled with Quadrupole MS, any unexpected or unknown compounds are automatically identified thanks to the internal NIST library embedded in the internal computer of the system.

The instrument is designed to avoid the risk of interference caused by other molecules that may be present in the sample. A specific internal calibration system is used to validate the data and to ensure a good stability of the analytical solution.

This cylinder free solution includes embedded gas generators and calibration controlled by GC in rack or wall mounted box. More information online: ilmt.co/PL/4O3o

New High-Performance Liquid Chromatograph to Help Laboratories Meet Quality and Production Targets Introduced

Waters Corporation has introduced the Waters™ Arc™ HPLC System, a new high-performance liquid chromatograph (HPLC) for routine testing in the pharmaceutical, food, academic and materials markets. A key target application is quality control laboratories performing batch release tests on small molecule pharmaceuticals. Waters also announced the availability of Waters™ Empower™ BC LAC/E™ with SecureSync, its newly enhanced data back-up and recovery solution purpose-built for organisations with distributed laboratory environments.

The Arc HPLC System is for laboratories looking for a rugged, reliable and modern HPLC system that can run established HPLC methods regardless of the brand of liquid chromatograph on which they were originally developed, while preserving the chromatographic retention time reproducibility of those methods. The system offers ultra-low analyte carryover, superb injection precision and backpressure tolerance to 9,500 psi at 5.0 ml/min. It is designed to meet all the requirements of a top-of-the-line HPLC system in a cost-competitive package that takes routine testing to the next level.

“We designed the Waters Arc HPLC System exclusively for QC laboratories knowing how important trustworthy test results are to help ensure the uninterrupted supply of safe and effective medicines,” said Robert Buco, PhD, Director, Separations Technology, Global Product Management, Waters Corporation. “Arc HPLC is for customers who are ready to modernise legacy instruments while preserving their specific QC methods. Waters makes it simple, providing a unique two-injection method transfer capability from any brand of HPLC instrument onto the Arc HPLC System.”

“As a Waters customer for many years, we have standardised on Waters instrumentation and Empower software for testing,” said Bo Chen, Instrument Manager, Luoxin Pharmaceutical (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. “Their instrumentation has proven to be reliable and rugged and we know from experience that they stand by their products. The new Arc HPLC System appears to be highly suited for testing of finished products and we are eager to give it a closer look.”

New Ion Chromatograph Features Built-in Electrodialytic Suppressor

Shimadzu has introduced the new HIC-ESP (Ion Chromatograph) featuring a built-in electrodialytic suppressor. This outstanding anion suppressor minimises band spreading and achieves high sensitivity and reliable performance for the quantitative determination of anions. The suppressor is rugged, providing stable functionality over long periods of operation. Furthermore, the system’s small footprint requires less bench space in usually densely-packed laboratories: the best things come in small packages. The HIC-ESP covers a wide range of applications in environmental testing, pharma, chemistry and food science.

The HIC-ESP modular inert flow path system integrates a system controller, degasser, pump, CDD detector with temperature controlled flow cell, autosampler, slim-line oven and the anion suppressor. This new ion chromatography system combines a number of valuable features providing highly-reliable analytical results: Excellent solvent delivery performance, low carryover, fast injection speed (as low as 10 sec), high sample injection precision and repeatability, precise oven temperature regulation and more.

The new ICDS-40A anion suppressor is located between the IC column and the detector. The unit features a low-volume design combined with a unique multi-layered structure. With a folded membrane, it provides highly efficient electrodialytic background suppression and increased stability. The patent-pending design reduces peak spreading, increasing sensitivity for components with low retention such as fluoride, and improves separation from the water dip.

The ICDS-40A allows for analysis as well as self-regeneration simultaneously, shortening analysis cycle time and maximising workflow efficiency. Because the anion suppressor uses effluent from the detector as regenerant, it eliminates the need for cumbersome offline regeneration with environmentally unfriendly solutions such as sulphuric acid.

In addition, the user-friendly ion chromatography system integrates seamlessly with Shimadzu’s LabSolutions platform. This allows users to easily manage parameter setting for IC analysis, batch analyses, auto-shutdown, data processing and report creation. Data integrity is assured with the addition of LabSolutions DB and LabSolutions CS.
