55 Mini Centrifuge Sets New Standards For Capacity & Flexibility

A mini centrifuge, which eliminates the need to change rotors when switching between microtubes and PCR strips and provides twice the capacity of traditional mini centrifuges, has been introduced by Cleaver Scientific (CSL).

The multifuge features an innovative duoROTOR design that enables the simultaneous spinning of 12 microtubes and 4 PCR strips, which effectively doubles its capacity compared to most conventional mini centrifuges.

With near silent operation and a fixed speed that produces 2,000 x g, the centrifuge is ideal for quick spin-downs. Simply close the lid and the unit quickly ramps up to 5500 rpm; open the lid and the rotor quickly decelerates to enable removal of samples.

The multifuge can accommodate smaller 0.5 and 0.6ml tubes and can also be used with low-cost optional adapters. At just 14cm wide x 11cm high and weighing 1.1kg, the ultra-compact multifuge is a truly personal sized centrifuge that will fit within on the smallest benchtop space, yet provides unmatched capacity and flexibility.

Highly Versatile General Purpose Centrifuge

Grant Instruments has recently added a General Purpose Centrifuge to their Grant-bio line of products. Capable of accommodating a variety of tube sizes as well as microplates, this highly versatile centrifuge offers a cost effective spin down solution for a wide range of biomedical, biochemical and life science applications. A powerful and extremely quiet motor with soft-start and run- own functions, provides spin speeds of up to 3000 rpm for tubes and 2000rpm for microplates. Set up for speed and run time is fast and easy using convenient push buttons and an LCD display.

The Grant-bio LMC-3000 General Purpose Centrifuge features robust and durable construction and comes with an industry exclusive 3-year warranty. Suitable for use in cold rooms and incubators, it has an operating temperature range of 4 to 45°C. Interchangeable swinging bucket rotors are available to hold 2 standard or deep well microplates, 6 x 50mL tubes with caps and conical bottoms, 12 x 10/15mL test tubes with no caps and rounded bottoms or 12 x 15mL microtubes with conical bottoms.

Versatile Ultra Centrifugal Mill with New Cyclone

Unique Differential Mixing Filter Dryer Agitator

The core of good agitated nutsche filter dryer (ANFD) performance relies heavily on the agitator design. The Powder Systems Ltd (PSL) agitator has been refined over a 22-year period to provide very robust performance under a variety of conditions. This is achieved by a series of sharp curved blades with spaces at different centres of each arm.

When moving and lifting the cake product between the gaps within the filter dryer agitator the product moves at a lower velocity and is subsequently swept by the second arm of the blade achieving efficient mixing by differential velocities.

PSL’s curved agitator blades also achieve penetration into difficult cakes without undue product stress. The agitators are always fabricated in one piece with the shaft welded to the arms, which removes any direct leak path of heat transfer fluid through a bolted joint between the shaft and arms.

Because of the efficient size reduction technique and the comprehensive range of accessories the ZM 200 ensures the gentle preparation of analytical samples in a very short time.

For applications which require an optimum air throughput (e. g. heat sensitive materials) or if larger sample volumes need to be processed, the use of a cyclone is recommended.

Retsch offers a re-designed cyclone with improved functionalities for collector volumes from 250ml to 5 litres, which adds to the ZM 200’s great flexibility.

Thanks to different rotors, ring sieves and collectors, the ZM 200 can be easily adapted to suit a wide range of applications such as, for example, heavy-metal-free grinding, size reduction of abrasive materials or processing small volumes up to 20ml.

Benefits include: gentle and very rapid size reduction by pre- and fine grinding in one run; patented cassette system for maximum sample recovery and easy cleaning; easily exchangeable grinding and sieve inserts; wide range of accessories including various collection and feeding systems, rotors, sieves and cyclones; wide speed range from 6,000 to 18,000rpm; and comfortable parameter setting via display and ergonomic 1-button operation.
