3 Learners should include pictures in their leaflet. 4 Once they have compiled their leaflet, they need to check the structure, persuasive language and spelling and grammar. This is an editing phase before presenting their writing. See extension activity below.


Extension


Once learners have finalised their persuasive text, give learners the opportunity to check each other’s work for the different components of structure, persuasion, spelling and grammar. This process of editing and proofreading someone else’s work is an important aspect of peer evaluation. Encourage learners to be respectful of each other’s work and to use a pencil to indicate where changes should be made, e.g. underlining misspelt words and providing the correct spelling. They should also write something positive about their classmate’s writing, e.g. “I like your ideas to get children moving” or “You use very good adjectives to describe your project”. Once they have edited the work, they hand it back to their classmate who makes final changes if need be.


Spelling


Learners add the spelling words to their personal dictionaries if they haven’t done so already. Give them the words to learn for homework. Hold a small spelling test and record their progress.
