REMEMBRANCE TOURISM GUIDE 2017 VULCANIA ❘ PROMOTION

Right in the heart of the Chaîne des Puys UNESCO World Heritage Site, theme park Vulcania offers educational fun and adventure for all the family based around the Earth’s phenomena A WORLD OF ADVENTURE

DISCOVER VULCANIA, A UNIQUE THEME PARK IN THE UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE OF CHAÎNE DES PUYS

, which will take you around the active volcanoes of the world.

Get right to the core of the Earth’s mysteries at Vulcania in the depths of Auvergne, a unique theme park dedicated to volcanoes and other natural phenomena. At the very heart of the Chaîne des Puys string of volcanoes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you can discover the fascinating world of volcanoes via dynamic animations and see for yourself how drones have revolutionised the work of volcanologists. Don’t miss the film Regards sur les volcans, projected on a giant screen of 415m2

LOTS TO LEARN Plenty of fun for all the family, Vulcania is also educational and offers plenty of opportunities to learn something new − accompanied by Matt the Explorer, Professor Yapadrisk and Pitoufeu. A free game − Quel héros êtes-vous? − on the Vulcania app allows you to see if you’re a scientist keen to quench your thirst for knowledge, or an explorer ready for thrills and spills along the

way. As well as volcanoes, Vulcania allows you to discover other terrestrial, atmospheric and marine phenomena, such as earthquakes and hurricanes. And don’t miss Dragon Ride 2, in which you can accompany dragon specialist Henri de Dragoniac in a study of these legendary animals “whose existence is scientifically not proven”. Find out for sure at the Dragon Forest, where you can discover eight impressive dragons for yourself. To better understand our planet, enjoy a free tour of the Solar System in Machine Earth, for a unique view of the Blue Planet.

HOLIDAY SPECIALS

During the spring holidays (April 4 to May 3), public holidays and every weekend until June 28, Matt the Explorer and Professor Yapadrisk will welcome you to the park in the morning and try to recruit you to their respective teams. And over the Easter weekend, youngsters will be able to discover more than dragon eggs across Vulcania! Shows are in the spotlight in Vulcania during the summer (July 6 to August 28) with

Les Défis des sciences, Mission Volcans and Mission Espace et Expérience. From July 13 to August 21, meet the now famous Professor Yapadrisk and his assistant, Jean-Michel, in the show Yapadrisk et la flamme des Volcans. As is now the summer tradition, Vulcania and its nocturnal events will continue to set the park ablaze with 10 exceptional summer evenings closed by the magnificent Dragon Time pyrotechnic show.

EXPLORE AUVERGNE To end the 2020 season, the autumn holidays (October 17 to November 1) will see young visitors invited to tame a whole host of dragons and confront the Halloween witch! Places to stay (and special deals) are listed on the Vulcania website, where you can also book other activities – it’s the ideal way to organise a holiday in Auvergne! Vulcania is open March 25 to November 1, and is 15km from Clermont-Ferrand. There is free parking at the site, and shuttlebuses connect the park to Clermont-Ferrand during the school holidays. ■
