WENTWORTH

Oh Come All Ye Faithful

A glorious tradition of Christmas music and readings will ring out in Wentworth to herald a night that will be anything but silent.

Sheffield’s Escafeld Chorale will present a Christmas concert at Holy Trinity Church on Saturday, December 8th – an event that has become a firm favourite on Wentworth’s annual calendar.

Although in its 24th year, the concert was established some time after Escafeld Chorale

was founded in 1969 as the Fossdale Singers by music teacher Ron Law, so named because he lived in Fossdale Road.

Along the way, it changed its name to Escafeld Chorale, after an old name for Sheffield. The mixed choir has since grown to about 80 members, is tutored by music director Nigel Russell and boasts an extensive choral repertoire. The Christmas concert, ‘A Light in the Darkness’ starts at 7.30pm and the music will be interspersed with seasonal readings. There will also be opportunities for the audience to join in some of the items and get well and truly into the

Christmas spirit.

Tickets cost £8 in advance or £9 on the door and include a programme, mulled wine and mince pie. They will be available from early November – please see church website for details www.wentworthchurch.com or collect tickets from Ron Smalley in church on Sunday mornings.

The choir always welcomes new members and supporters, visit www.escafeldchorale.org.uk
