t has been a very hectic time for us putting together our bumper festive edition. This year more than ever as
Amber, my journalist and right hand, gave birth to a beautiful baby girl just the day before this edition went to print.
On a much sadder note we pay tribute to our motoring correspondent and dear friend Don Booker who sadly passed away in September. There aren’t many people who would still have been writing articles at 87 years, but he was without doubt a remarkable man.
Another South Yorkshire treasure we feature is local man Peter Foster who is inspiring others to live their lives to the full. At the tender age of 79 he has already taken to great heights with a fundraising wing walk and a 400ft zip wire experience.
We hope our Christmas feature encourages you to support your local independent shops away from the hustle and bustle of the larger shopping malls. There are some wonderful festive treats in store on our what’s on guide with everything from Christmas markets to dates when Santa may be visiting your street. Make sure you try and fit in a panto, after all the best childhood memories are the ones made away from the Xbox.
At this time of year, our thoughts turn to those less fortunate and this year we are supporting Weston Park with its calendar appeal. It is such a lovely way to fundraise by sharing the personal stories of the people who have been supported by the hospital as they unite to raise vital funds and awareness.
On a final note, thank you for being part of our journey and making the Aroundtown magazine a much-loved publication we are proud to produce.
