A Very Riviera Christmas with the National Trust at Coleton Fishacre and Greenway

C

oleton Aglow returns again this December to Coleton Fishacre, where the garden will once again

be awash with even more festive light and the house dressed for a 1920s Christmas party. Now into its fourth year the illuminated route leads

visitors, past ponds, twinkling glades with streams and trees awash with warm and colourful light. Inside the house, the decorations have been inspired by a Christmas party which took place at Coleton Fishacre in 1929. The decorations illustrate the opulence and elegance of this era with ostrich feathers and champagne glasses adorning its elegant surroundings. Nearby Greenway welcomes the return of its popular

pop-up vintage cinema. A collection of crime films curated by Sophie Hannah, bestselling author of crime fiction, will be screened in a cosy vintage-style cinema marquee at Agatha Christie’s holiday home, where the smell of fresh popcorn greets you from the popcorn machine, and retro sweets, crisps and drinks are available for film-goer’s refreshment. Uniformed ushers

clip your tickets and guide you into the screen, where rows of vintage cinema seats and VIP chesterfield sofas are lit by chandeliers and twinkly lights in the ceiling. Films being screened this year include classics such as the Hitchcock thrillers Dial M for Murder and North by North West plus other great crime films like Twelve Angry Men, Bunny Lake is Missing and the Woody Allen film Manhattan Murder Mystery.
