Dartmouth Food Festival - 2018 Drinks Seminars and Tasting Schedule Sponsors - Browns Hotel and The Royal Castle Hotel
Our wine seminars and tastings at Browns Hotel have again been co-ordinated by drinks writer and expert Susy Atkins and this year the programme is designed to stir up some lively discussion and debate!
As many of these events will sell out quickly please get your tickets early to avoid disappointment via our website:

RHONE VARIETIES - FROM EAST TO WEST OF THE MED An exciting, rare opportunity to compare wines of the Lebanon and Rhone Valley, with our host Adrian Lake of Thorman Hunt Wines, in association with local merchant Michael Sutton Cellars. £12.50 pp with canapés.
WHAT CAN YOU TASTE IN YOUR WINE GLASS, AND WHY? Join The Guardian’s wine critic Fiona Beckett and Master of Wine Liam Steevenson in a revealing discussion about why wines taste so different and how to train our palates. With blind tasting of several wines, this is part of Fiona and Liam’s new series of debates, soon to become podcasts, called ‘Batonnage’. £12.50 pp.
SWEET TOOTH & STICKY FINGERS Savour a set of delicious sweet wines from around the world with wine expert, educator and sommelier Rebecca Mitchell. Get to know the wide variety and how to match them with food. £12.50 pp to include some sweet nibbles.
FIZZ AT FIVE Join us in the yurt (next to Dartmouth Visitor Centre) for a question and answer session on the history of Pol Roger and a taster of this wonderful champagne. Tickets £12.50 to include 2 glasses of champagne and canapés.
BEER AND FOOD MATCHING IN THE GUILDHALL A Mexican Fiesta. Join The Royal Castle Hotel on a culinary tour of Mexico, where head chef Ankur Biswas has prepared a selection of authentic tasting plates each served with a thoughtfully selected beer brewed by Brewdog to compliment or contrast with the dish. £25 pp.

OFF THE BEATEN TRACK Taste wines from lesser-known regions, emerging countries and unusual grape varieties. A lively session exploring the (probably!) unknown. With Ben Russell of Majestic Wine in Totnes. £12.50 pp.
FRANCE vs THE REST OF THE WORLD We are delighted to have Will Lyons, wine critic for The Sunday Times return with a sequel to his popular tasting last year. With French wines pitched against similar styles and quality from elsewhere, which will triumph? £15 pp with charcuterie & cheese.
SPEED TASTING New this year, a busy and fun session from the new South West Wine School run by Hayley & Jonathan Reynolds. Move from table to table tasting delicious wines from international regions and meeting some of the festival’s expert wine speakers along the way. £15 pp.
FABULOUS FIZZ Kick off Saturday evening in style as Susy Atkins in association with The Dartmouth Wine Company sample some delightful top sparklers from around the world. £12.50 pp.
WINE AND FOOD MATCHING IN THE GUILDHALL: LEVANTINE CUISINE Take your taste buds on a Eastern Mediterranean fling with the Royal Castle Hotel. Showcasing a tasting menu featuring some of the speciality cuisines of the region accompanied by a selection of carefully chosen wines. £25 pp.

12.30pm -1.15pm PROSECCO BRUNCH Back by popular demand Browns Hotel brings you the perfect way to start your Sunday lunchtime. Supported by Villa Sandi and hosted by Shane Holland of Slow Food UK and Flavio Geretto, Villa Sandi Export Manager enjoy a selection of premium Proseccos and wines with some delicious brunchy nibbles. £12.50 pp.
