Dartmouth Food Festival Appeal 2018

This year’s Appeal will benefit pupils at Dartmouth Academy, our local co-educational school for 3-19 year olds.

Pupils are taught a short introduction to food which encourages an interest in preparing, cooking and eating a varied and healthy diet.

The teaching room used for food classes has been adapted from a former science laboratory and much of the current equipment needs replacing.

Festival-goers are often surprised to learn that the Dartmouth Food Festival is a non-profit organisation run almost entirely by volunteers. This means that any financial surplus the Festival makes is reinvested back into the Festival or our local community.

We are keen to do more to actively support local groups and projects but rising event costs are making it harder for the Festival to generate the necessary funds on our own.

So, this year sees the launch of the Dartmouth Food Festival Appeal.

The annual fundraising Appeal will enable festival-goers to learn about the local causes we’re supporting and, of course, we hope you will be inspired to donate!

Your donations will help fund the purchase of new equipment which will widen the range and ambition of what students are able to produce in class and familiarise them with the industry-standard equipment they are likely to find in the workplace.

Any additional funds raised via the Appeal will be invested in a pilot after-school ‘family learning’ project where pupils and parents will prepare, cook and eat a meal together.

You can donate to the 2018 Appeal at one of our Festival collection points:

• In the Market Square • On the Embankment • At the Festival Information Stand (Royal Avenue Gardens) • Or online via dartmouthfoodfestival.com
