Asia, Egypt & Europe
With relaxing time spent at sea on board elegant Boudicca, interspersed with calls into stunning destinations – each presenting unforgettable landmarks and awe-inspiring landscapes to savour – this cruise makes for a wonderful week away from the crisp UK autumn. Sailing south you’ll visit pretty La Coruña and gorgeous Madeira, with ample time to take in the countless sights, before arriving into Tenerife for volcanic valleys and spectacular vistas.
Santiago de Compostela Madeira
You’ll be able to settle into life on board your home- from-home at sea during a day spent sailing towards laidback La Coruña, the first of three stops on this seven-night getaway. Once docked, the highlights of this Galician gem await your exploration. Look out for landmarks such as Maria Pita Square and the Tower of Hercules. This UNESCO-listed ancient Roman lighthouse presides proudly over the Paseo Marítimo, a beautiful seafront promenade stretching out over 13km and scattered with beaches.
Majestic views of the city are available from Monte San Pedro – reached via glass lift – or alternatively you could choose to explore further afield and join a tour to Santiago de Compostela. The Galician capital’s awe-inspiring, UNESCO-listed cathedral is a must-see.
Two sea days follow, where you can join your choice of activities or just sit back and unwind, before arrival at Madeira. Portugal’s fragrant ‘garden island’ boasts beautiful botanical gardens, including the enchanting Monte Palace Tropical Garden. Madeira’s network of unique levada walking trails
showcases breathtaking landscapes and impressive natural wonders and, keeping with the theme, from Cabo Girão – one of the world’s highest sea cliffs – you can absorb spectacular Atlantic Ocean views, courtesy of a glass-bottomed walkway. Be sure to savour some traditional Madeiran wine during your stay, too. Funchal is your gateway to all this and plenty more besides.
Finally, it’s on to Tenerife, the largest of the sun- kissed Canary Islands. You’ll disembark Boudicca here, but not before having a day to take in the attractions and explore at your leisure. Many captivating highlights compete for your attention here: the Olsen family-owned Pyramids of Güímar are shrouded in mystery, while soaring Mount Teide – Spain’s highest peak – can be reached via an exhilarating cable car adventure.
Elsewhere, you could choose to uncover the emblematic architectural wonder that is the Auditorio de Tenerife; or fully indulge in a spot of sunbathing at your pick of the inviting beaches found nearby, bringing your holiday to a rewarding conclusion.
