Caribbean, Amazon & Central America

This Caribbean exploration really goes further, venturing into the cultural countries of Central America for an in-depth discovery. You’ll be able to pack in so many highlights in just two weeks, from fascinating Mayan ruins in Mexico to the native wildlife of Belize. Costa Rica’s rainforests, national parks and gardens will be a feast for the senses, before there’s a chance to tour to the iconic Panama Canal from Colón.

Cartagena de Indias

Costa Rica Cozumel

The start point for this blissful voyage is the Dominican Republic, where Braemar will be docked at La Romana and waiting to guide you on your journey. Once on board, you’ll sail on to your first port of call, Santo Domingo. A morning will be spent in the country’s capital, which is also the oldest European city in America, having been founded by Christopher Columbus’ brother, Bartholomew.

The Mexican island of Cozumel presents chances to discover remarkable Mayan ruins and snorkel coral reefs, before your South and Central American adventures begin. Braemar will head to Belize, where the narrow streets and canals of Belize City are yours to explore. St. John’s Cathedral – the oldest Anglican Church in Central America – and the Museum of Belize are among the many attractions to discover. An array of native wildlife is within reach, on a Jungle Walk tour or during a guided riverboat cruise along the scenic Belize River.

Continuing on to Costa Rica, Puerto Limón awaits you. One of the oldest cities in Latin America, Puerto Limón boasts an enchanting historic heart littered

with fascinating architecture and traditional markets. Take the day to explore the city at leisure; or perhaps venture into dense forests, national parks and botanical gardens found nearby to encounter wonderful native wildlife. Colon will then serve as your gateway to the wonders of Panama; don’t miss your chance to see impressive locks and dams of the Panama Canal – one of the world’s great engineering feats – in action.

For a host of Hispanic highlights, Braemar will also take you to Colombia and the captivating city of Cartagena de Indias. Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas, which overlooks the city, is a fine example of the colonial Spanish structures to uncover here. Old merchant houses, pretty churches and charming open-air cafés are easily discovered on foot, or even via horse-drawn carriage. Finally, it’s back to the Caribbean to visit stunning Curaçao before disembarking in Barbados. During your day in Willemstad, perhaps you’ll opt to enjoy the gorgeous Caribbean sunshine exploring the city’s UNESCO- listed centre; or simply relaxing at your pick of Curaçao’s postcard-perfect beaches.
