Midleton F.C. Jake
MSL PREMIER DIV RESULT MIDLETON 4-1 Cobh Wanderers Goalscorers : James Mc
Carthy, Ian Maher , Kevin Murray, Kelvin Kruschel Performance of the sea-
son tonight, and the score line tells exactly the story, clinical with chances con- verted, quality of goals excellent and as organized a defensive performance you will see in the top flight.
Magpies were brilliant
from the minute go, har- assed a startled Cobh team at every chance and nev- er really let the away side into the game, James Mc carthy opened the scoring from a superb strike from 30yrds out, catching the Cobh goalkeeper strand- ed. Ian Maher doubled Midleton’s lead shortly af- ter with a towering header from a excellent set piece. Midleton kept the pressure on and never rested on what
they had, the work
rate and desire to win the ball back was a joy to see.
Hegarty, who’s
hold up play all night was top class, was unbelieva- bly unlucky not to make it three just before half time. After James Leahy won the ball back, Hegarty went through and rounded the keeper, only for his angle to run wide and the post saved Cobh’s blushes .HT 2-0
half
Midleton began the 2nd in the same fashion
and again got a great goal from a corner with a sub- lime delivery again from Kruschel and captain fan- tastic Kevin Murray rose highest again for his 2nd goal in as many games. Midleton added anoth-
er shortly after just like the 1st
half but this time it
was Kruschel who finished off another fine passing move with a curling effort into the top corner from 25yrds giving the keeper no chance. Cobh were given a life-
line from an ‘offside’ goal. The linesman ruled offside, after a defender headed in on the line, in an offside position. The ref over- ruled - to give the goal, to the dismay of the home
CSL U15a Div 3 Midleton 1-0 Leeds After a difficult few we
games were just
couldn’t find the net, to- day the lads got the win they deserved. As has been the case a lot this year we dominated midfield with great work from Ciarm- hac Smyth, Conor Clarke, and captain Fawaz Bakin- son. Their pressing and
side. This sparked the away side to rally for a period of time but the Magpies stood strong to everything that was thrown over a 15min spell of long balls, Midleton stopper Andy O’Donoghue hadn’t a save to make in entire game to the delight of his superb back four. Midleton kept a good shape and played a excellent counter attack game to see out a very well deserved 3pts over our neighbors. Well done lads brilliant performance and we would like to thank again all who supported on another cold winters night , happy Xmas to ye all hope ye have festive Xmas.
physicality ensured Leeds could not get much time on the ball. On the wings Neil Fitzgerald, and James O’Sullivan together with Conan Hickey as centre forward worked tirelessly to both push defenders to their limit and tackling early keeping Leeds in their own half. In the first half both
Fawaz and Conor had shots cleared off the line with Conor being really unlucky after a neat turn inside the box. We kept up the pressure in the second half and our keeper had very little to do with Aar- on Smyth, Darragh Codd, Keith Cleary and Ben Lowen dominating the at- tackers. We put on Phelim Magan up front
for in 2018. Our thanks, as coaches, to the boys for their commitment this year and we wish all their families a Merry Christ- mas. Thanks Colm and David.
Oran and Christopher playing for Ireland U15 Team Oran Crowe and Chris-
topher O’Connor recently played for Ireland U-15’s in Abbottstown Dublin . Well done lads keep up the good work.
Santa arrives at our Club Academy. A big thank you to Hur-
along
with Kamil Michalak and their energy created addi- tional problems in the last 15 mins. Eventually with 5 mins to go Ciarmhac made a run through the defence and was brought down on the edge of the box. Keith Cleary stepped up and fired in a great free kick that took a deflection off the wall and sailed into the top corner. We stayed in control to
win 1-0 and a great finish to the year and all to play
