gates and members of the board. Ger Lane the outgoing the Cork

Chairman of

County Board spoke briefly about how well Imokilly had done in the year gone by and he thanked everyone for the support he had received during his term in office on the County Board and he wished all new board members in Imokilly every success going for- ward. A presentation was then made to Ger Lane by Richard Fitzgerald on behalf of Imokil- ly thanking him for his hard work. And the final act of the evening was a presentation to Richard from our Secretary Mi- chael O’Brien to thank him for his hard work on the board with the last number of years. When official proceedings had finished everyone had tea and sandwiches and a so- cial chat before heading home. Well done to our Club Castlelyons Club and thanks to them for providing these mighty re- freshments, massive cakes and sandwiches and, of course, the hall for the East Cork AGM 2017.

End of Year While everyone is rushing around getting last minute presents and thinking about the lie ins and the over indul- gence that lays ahead of them, its a great time to reflect on the year. In terms of games on the field our Intermediates got to League final and fought till the end - even though it wasn’t a win it meant we are up to Di- vision 2 in the Interme- diate league. While the championship did not go our way after 3 games we were out. With a number of mitigating factors - we look to a bright 2018. Big thanks must go to

the outgoing manage- ment team Martin Den- ny (manager) and se- lectors John Boylan and

Sean Murphy. Also to the trainers Peter Coady and Dave Fitz Maurice. Exciting times lie ahead with new management in toe - Tim O’Sullivan who has been integral part of the team for a number of years will now take over as man- ager.

Junior B Hurling Under the wings of

Eric Kenneally and Karl Kiely the Junior B field- ed for league and cham- pionship even though numbers can be a diffi- culty. A good win in the first round of champi- onship against Killeagh, however a tough second match ensued against St. Catherine’s seeing us knocked out of the championship.

Junior A Football Football saw 2 match-

es in championship and 2 in the league. Again a

difficulty with numbers this is still a nifty football team and 2018 may see a different story. Thanks to Christy Fitzpatrick (manager),

selectors

Liam Rohan and Jim O’Callaghan with coach Dave Fitzmaurice.

Senior Representatives Huge admiration

must go to Shane He- garty who played Senior Hurling UCC and Cork Intermediate and Niall Motherway with Imok- illy Senior Hurling. A busy year all round

with a lot more to give in 2018. Representation of the players at the AGM this year indicated that while there is work to be done they are striving for a positive 2018.

Sponsors We owe a great debt

of gratitude to our spon- sors, East Cork Crane

eastcorkjournal

Hire and Rigney Broth- ers were again our title sponsors this year and we would like to thank them for their continued support. Hurley’s Super- valu are another great supporter and again our gratitude goes to John Hurley. Irish Distillers are also one of our great supporters and are al- ways willing to help us out in any way they can. We would like to thank the companies who have sponsored signs around the pitch.

Club Lotto The club lotto has now

been running for nine- teen years and continues to provide a consistent flow of funds to enable us to make ends meet. Great thanks must go to Breda Condon and also to everyone who collects Lotto money and is in the club house every Monday night 52 weeks of the year for the draw. It is a great commitment from them. Greyhound

race night We had a

greyhound race night in September of this year and this brought in ap- proximately seven thou- sand euros. Many thanks must go to Liz Kelleher who put major work into the programme for the evening. Lilly Hegarty along with Ber and Ste- vie Motherway must also be thanked for the work they put into the organ- isation of the event and thanks must go to all of you who sold and bought tickets.

County Board Draw This year has been

again a very successful year for sales of County Board Draw tickets with ticket sales rising accord- ingly, gratitude has to go to Ber Motherway for work she puts into this. A large percentage of each ticket sold comes directly back to the club.

Players Gear The club would like

to thank Niall Mc’s bar for sponsorship of play- ers gear at the

year,

the start of thanks must

go to Donal and Mary McGrath for this.

Scór na bPáisti Both the GAA and camogie clubs were well represented at

the East

Cork Scór na bPáistí competitions in early 2017. Brian Flynn per- forming in the Recitation category and our Figure Dancers all made excel- lent progress through the competition. On Octo- ber 25th

we held the local

Scór na bPáistí competi- tion to select entrants for 2018. The competition was well attended on the night. The judges, John Arnold and Francis O’Riordan, praised the children for the quality of their performances and the confidence they displayed in taking to the stage. Entrants were selectedto progress in all categories and plans are also underway to en-

ter a team in the Léiriú category. Thanks to John Boylan for acting as MC on the night. The club owes a debt of gratitude to Catherine Doocey and Claire Padden for their efforts in organising and preparing the local chil- dren for Scór na bPáistí over the past 5 years.

Condolences While we talk about

what the year has given us we must remember the people we lost this year. Condolences to all who have lost a loved one this year. May they rest in peace. Finally to all of you

that support us, our play- ers and our strive to an ever improving club we say thank you. A club does not exist without its supporters and people that give their time to the club - we wish you all a happy Christmas, may it be a peaceful and happy one and may 2018 bring you health and prosper- ity.
