December 2017 Seasons Greetings
Well Folks, the big man in the red suit is getting prepped to vis- it all of the children of East Cork on Sunday evening. He’s making those fi-
nal second checks on his Naughty and Nice list before he leaves so make sure you have been ex- tra good and you nev- er know, he very well might leave you a gift or two under the tree. So here we are again,
my favourite time of
year, Christmas... that magical time of Santa, toys, children, trees, tin- sel, elves and Rudolph, carols and turkey. “It was the
night of
Christmas” still sends thrills
delight
before as
I
think of my child wait- ing for Santa to come down the chimney. A long time ago now. And magic was truly in the air. The true spirit of Christmas.
It’s not all about who
gets or gives the best gift, but who you spend your time with. Whether you cele- Christmas, Ha-
brate
nukkah, or something else, perhaps even a dif- ferent God. The lesson here still applies to you, this lesson is about the spirit of giving and re- ceiving. So whether you celebrate Christmas or not, celebrate this time and take this month’s
lesson, or apply it to your festivities, whatev- er they may be. We know that Christ- mas is a time for giv- ing and receiving, a time to remember oth- ers less fortunate than ourselves, peace in the world, a time for fam- ilies to end their quar- rels and come togeth- er, a time to celebrate the birth of Christ. We know all
these and we know that
things, this
also is the true spirit of Christmas.
So here is the lesson of the month. 1: Ask yourself when
you last gave your time to someone you didn’t know very well.
Ask
yourself how it felt, or if you have never done it, ask yourself why. 2: Spend some time
reflecting how easy it is to give a euro for a

good cause. Give some thought to how much more difficult it is to give a minute of your time. 3: Each day, when you
wake up, no matter how difficult it might be for you, think of someone you know who might be in need of a minute of your time, and call them, or pay them a visit. There are many sad
and lonely people out there, wondering where
the true spirit of Christ- mas isyour best gift is to show them. A gift for them and a gift for you too. We all need to give that € to a good cause, to help those
more
needy than ourselves in any way we can, but it can be too easy to be- come so caught up in our lives, to write that check, to give monetar- ily, and to forget the true spirit of Christmas.
