19 A Cup of Positivitea Pat Quinlan Raising Money

I believe the one neces-
sity for a happy and con- tent life is simply positiv- ity. As a sixteen year old student my experiences of this world are limit- ed yet my eyes are open enough to see how my attitude and actions can affect those around me for good or bad. Some- times one can underes- timate the phrases, “an act of kindness goes a long way” or “spreading kindness”. But what I’ve started realising is just how true it is. You might not notice it a lot, I don’t most of the time, but if someone enters a room with a beaming smile you are more than likely going to subconsciously feel happier and want to break out in a smile. In the same way, if someone walks into the room with a frown and starts com- plaining perhaps, you are probably going to invol- untarily feel more agitat- ed and grumpy. Without
a doubt, positivity and negativity are infectious. I find that one of the qualities you
constant
find in truly good-heart- ed people is the want to do random acts of kind- ness. Such a simple thing to do that can carry so much weight with it. To give you an idea of how much power good deeds carry, I want to take you through a little scenario. You’re walking down a street; someone in front of you drops a bunch of papers. Stooping down to help the man is a stranger with his only motive being generosity. In a study by University of California, Berkeley; it
states that observing
acts of kindness actually inspires good deeds. The message here is to inspire good in the world, be- cause you never know, maybe the person you help today will help his friend tomorrow. And maybe that friend will go on to help someone else. For a moment see how one act of kindness starts
a chain in the communi- ty that does nothing but good. Truth be told, there
are hundreds of things in a day that may up- set you. It could be that the hot water is finished when you come home from a long day’s work, or maybe that someone you live with has been having a bad day and it seems to you like their sole purpose is to inflict their despair upon you. However, from the mo-
ment you wake up, your mood and happiness is in your control. It takes maturity and a strong will to stay optimistic and instead of succumbing to sadness, stay happy and not only do that but look to spread your smile be- yond just you. I believe that
this ability makes
you a pleasurable per- son to be around. It truly changed my perspective of life and I found that the best way to live it; is just be happy.

said
that they have never eaten so much food before, with family or work friends questioning how they can lose weight by what they
are eating, or by the por- tion size”. There are a wide range
of people in the group - men, women, people with a small amount of weight to lose, to people with a lot to lose, some doing it for health reasons, others who just want to feel comfort-
able in their own skin. So no matter what your rea- son is, you won’t be alone. If you are concerned
about what you can eat, please worry no more. “A day of food optimizing can vary hugely, depend- ing on the
individual’s appetite and also what
they enjoy eating. Break- fast could be a big fry up. Lunch might be a baked potato with chicken and salad, or something sim- ple
like beans on toast.
Dinner is my favourite part, lasagne, burger and Slimming World chips (one of my favourites), a
