INTER-ARRAY CABLE INSTALLATION GROWING INDUSTRY In a move away from a dependence on fossil fuels and a commitment to renewables from a number of big industry

players, 2017 has seen more renewable power distributed into the National Grid from across the globe than ever before. Offshore renewable energy, particularly, has stepped up a gear and is experiencing a new and exciting area of expertise, delivery, improvement of supply and the development of the UK supply chain.

NEW CHALLENGES With new approaches, techniques and expectations comes new challenges for our workforce. The pressures of the ever-demanding industry and the changes in technology have seen a squeeze in the supply chain, resulting in the driving down of costs and an ageing workforce whilst the voltage supply of Inter Cable Array and the distance to the windfarm are both increasing.

The technology around 66kv will leave a gap in experience whilst equipment will need to be upgraded which will

also require personnel that are certified under the tough offshore operational regulations and insurance demands. This is in addition to the technical equipment and skills development around floating turbines which will be required in the coming years.

PREPARED, QUALIFIED AND SAFE PERSONNEL The Offshore Marine People and Academy’s role is to assess the development within the industry and ensure that our people are prepared, qualified and safe. As the industry

experiences new challenges and opportunities, they are responsible for ensuring that the people that underpin and drive the industry are supported from the beginning.

The organisation believes that in order for the industry to continue to progress and succeed as has been experienced in recent years, there is a need to embrace the diversity and changes and prepare the workforce sufficiently. For this reason, the organisation put people at their heart so that clients and projects get the best qualified people.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING The organisation’s approach to career development as well as their commitment to providing the highest level of training to their workforce ensures their skills match that of the expanding industry, passing on experience and knowledge to the up-and-coming stars and ensuring they have the reassurance they need of certainty of work to encourage new individuals to the industry.

MEETING EXPECTATIONS

By listening to and understanding the ever-changing needs of workforce, they are able to create an environment that embraces further training, continued assessment and the developing of skills to match the expectations of an industry that will continue to grow and succeed whilst improving the specific knowledge of the industry by specialist offshore knowledge courses.
