The basic coating can withstand voltages of up to 1,000Vdc. However, a recently launched upgraded coating and sealing process delivers even better performance, including enhanced moisture resistance and an insulation capability of up to 3,000Vdc. In addition, the upgraded coating provides greater protection against high humidity storage environments which can compromise the bearing’s insulating properties before it is even placed in service. SKF is very strongly represented in this specialist sector and currently has around 25% of the global market for insulated bearing technologies.
