PROVIDING SERVICED ACCOMMODATION

As the wind industry rapidly expands throughout the UK, hot on its heels is Sarah Jane Watson, Director of Cleethorpes Lettings, providers of serviced accommodation in Grimsby, Cleethorpes, Hull, Barrow, Lowestoft, Yarmouth and Birkenhead

Sarah Jane has been called ‘The Fairy Godmother of Wind Power Accommodation’ and affectionately calls her guests ‘her windy boys and girls’. Sarah Jane is also well known for her home baking… she laughs: “Oh yes… my banana cake is a particular favourite and my cookies. The guys have been known to leave a dozen bananas and a large box of eggs with a note saying “these are spare Sarah Jane ;-)”

BUT SERIOUSLY!

Starting out with only two cottages in 2007, Sarah Jane is now able to offer a portfolio of 20+ properties in Grimsby and Cleethorpes, from studio apartments to five-bedroomed houses. Over the Humber Bridge in Hull she is able to offer 100+apartments and houses all within minutes of Green Port, home to Siemens preassembly site. In Barrow 80+ apartments and in Lowestoft she booked 12 lodges in March/April alone for the management teams of two new windfarms.

PHENOMENAL YEAR

Sarah Jane continued: “2017 has been a phenomenal year already. I absolutely love my job, meeting guests from all over the world. In the last two months I have had guests arrive from Texas, Canada, Hungary, Italy, Denmark, Scotland, Wales, France, Germany and Belgium. “When the guys work away for months at a time, they need more facilities and comfort than a hotel room – that’s where serviced rental properties fit the bill perfectly. Washers/ dryers/dishwashers/fridgefreezers/WIFI/ parking and fully equipped kitchens with everything serviced weekly by a maid with fresh sheets and towels.”

ALL INCLUSIVE COST

Sarah Jane continued: “The convenience of having all bills included makes life a lot easier, particularly for visitors to the UK. If they do not have a UK bank account they cannot hire a property from an estate agent and sign up for utility bills. We offer an all-inclusive price.

SHE AFFECTIONATELY CALLS HER GUESTS ‘HER WINDY BOYS AND GIRLS’

“We have also started to work with local large hotels and can take a much larger booking of 30+ in the Grimsby area, liaising with the company to meet their needs with regards to complex shift patterns and providing breakfast, packed lunch plus evening meal – even adapting the menus to include firm favourites of that nationality.”

EXCITING TIMES

Sarah Jane concluded: “We are experiencing very exciting times in Grimsby and Cleethorpes as a whole. We have employed the services of three local companies for cleaning, maintenance and laundry and we furnish all properties from small local businesses.

“We are passionate about using local services and I for one am hugely thankful to the wind industry for choosing to locate to Grimsby and Cleethorpes and The Humber. “The wind industry brought with it new opportunities for employment and the incredible boost to our local economy, increased inward investment and a stunning rejuvenation to the facilities, restaurants, bars, accommodation, gyms, boutiques, etc in the area. This is a legacy to be enjoyed by visitors and locals for a great many years to come.”
