SUPPORT SERVICES QUICK SELF-TESTING GUIDE…

1. Can you see holes/splits in the material, seals, or zip that shouldn’t be there?

2. Are there any worn areas of the fabric that could be an issue?

REMEMBERING TO SERVICE IMMERSION

DRYSUITS An immersion drysuit should do just that, keep you dry when immersed. Age cannot guarantee how dry it will keep you, this depends on the use and how it has been maintained

There are various ways water can penetrate through a suit; failure of the material, seals, seams or a foreign object piercing through. Chris, Managing Director at Hammond commented: “The importance of servicing your immersion drysuit should not be over looked. A quick visual over a drysuit will give you an idea of how effective it is going to be. However only by going through a process of wet pressure testing can you be certain it is going to keep you dry.”

3. Are any of the seam tapes peeling away or missing?

4. Are any of the seals peeling away from the suit fabric?

5. Is the zip bonding starting to come away?

6. Are any of the teeth missing or broken on the zip?

7. Do both the zip runners stop before they reach to each respective end?

8. Put the drysuit on and sub- merge yourself in a warm bath or swimming pool

9. Are there any damp patches on your undergarments?

If you answered yes to any of the above, your drysuit should be seen by a company who can service the suit to either help repair where necessary or make recommendations if the suit is beyond repair.

FEATURE SPONSOR CLEANING SERVICE

In some instances, insurance companies require drysuits to be certified and Hammond work with individuals, companies and windfarm operators to help them meet legislation. They service all makes of drysuits and are the official Ursuit repair centre for the UK. The company offer a cleaning service to Ursuits recommended cleaning guidelines – this keeps the suit fresh and odour free but importantly keeps the fabric breathing and not blocked.
