HOW TURBINE INSPECTION SYSTEMS HAVE DEVELOPED

Innovation and constantly reassessing systems for efficiency and fit for purpose processes led to the development of 3sun Group’s Certification Management System (CMS). The previous written system was laborious, time-consuming, inefficient, open to error and potentially unsafe. A radio frequency identification device (RFID) tagging system developed for data collection, processing and transmission, presented issues with speed, forcing inspection teams to revert to written systems. The development of 3sun Group’s tablet and upgraded Kinetic system has revolutionised statutory inspection.

CASE STUDY 1

3sun Group used its bespoke on-line CMS inspection system when it carried out servicing, maintenance, inspection and refuelling of generator sets on an offshore windfarm off the east coast. The team provided comprehensive

reporting and full equipment certification using the CMS system, also identifying defective equipment, maintaining safe systems of work. Use of the system reduced offshore remedial works, maintaining the client’s safety culture and completed work scopes in designated timescales.

CASE STUDY 2

3sun Group’s online CMS inspection system was used on lift equipment inspections on a jack-up vessel. The crane’s lifting points and associated equipment were inspected in accordance with Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) and Provision and use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER). The company provided a specialist

rope access inspection team to inspect and maintain the crane, working at height in accordance with Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA) Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) and industry best practice The bespoke CMS system provided

comprehensive inspection and reporting of all lifting points and equipment on board the jack-up, on time utilising rope access techniques and multi-skilled technicians, which reduced the labour needed for the inspection.
