KONECRANES UK WINS SIEMENS AUSTRIA SAMSUN POWER PLANT CRANES CONTRACT

East Kilbride based Konecranes UK has won the Siemens AG Austria contract to supply cranes for the Samsun Cengiz Enerji combined- cycle power plant in Turkey.

SPECIFICATIONS the contract won by Konecranes UK Industrial Cranes Division is for two x 250 tonne SMD cranes working at 33 metres span for the turbine hall and a variety of smaller crane models. the 250 tonne SMD cranes will be fitted with the company’s renowned high technology components including Konecranes DynA Invertor variable speed control on all motions with the added feature of ESR (Extended Speed Range) on the main hoists and Konecranes Remox radio controls with back up pendants.

FEATURES

All hoists feature Konecranes Controlpro Monitors where the unit monitors each hoist operation, providing overload detection, brake wear monitoring and calculates the crane hoist duty allowing 100% planning of maintenance activities to suit the actual crane duty. The unit also

stores and records the number of cycles, overload attempts and temperature trips.

Both cranes have girder and trolley platforms, cross and long travel 2 step magnetic limit switches, true vertical lifting on all hoists, double main hoist brakes, disc brakes on all motions, ultimate hoist limit switches, hook safety catches, ramshorn main hooks, cross crane festoon cables, floodlights, plugs and sockets, panel lighting, motor and panel heating and remote monitoring of the crane operating systems.

Tandem operation of both cranes from 1 crane cabin/radio with feed back monitoring of the “SLAVE” crane to the “MAStER” crane, back-up radio control, tropicalised electrics, disc brakes, limit switches on all motions and heaters in panels, motors, long travel conductors, isolator and anti-collision between cranes.

SPECIAL LIFTING BEAM

A special lifting beam is included for a combined lift of 480t when the cranes are in tandem. There is no mechanical tie between the cranes when in tandem, the

Dyna controls are so fine that they can be set to communicate crane to crane and maintain affixed distance. In the event that a crane did get out of position for some external reason then a safety wire is provided that would disconnect if the distance was out of tolerance, stopping both cranes.

REMAINING ORDER

The remainder of the order is for three CXt cranes, one CXtS, one CXtSU and a CXtD. the 3 CXts will operate at 9.25mt span, the CXtSU on 4.8mt span and the 10 tonne CXTD on 14.95mt span.

All will have Konecranes features such as DynADrive inverter variable speed control on cross and long travel motions and dual speed hoists. The cranes also have festooned cross travel conductors, Controlpro condition monitors on each hoist, Konecranes Remox radio control and back up pendants and they are all equipped with limit switches on each motion.
