“By leveraging our global scale to become a more efficient company, we are able to lower our expenses and help develop markets for new technologies,” said Kim Saylors Laster, Walmart vice president of energy. “Developing and incorporating new renewable energy sources, like thin film, reduces energy price risk and aligns very well with our commitment to solving business challenges through technology.”

and also most of the technology required to provide coherent products at both 40 and 100G.”

About the PM100 Modulator

The new PM100 modulators extend Oclaro’s 100G component offering; providing customers with a comprehensive portfolio of components for developing 100G applications. The PM100 modulator supports the generally accepted Dual Polarization-QPSK modulation scheme; each of four parallel MZI’s running at speeds of up to 32 Gbaud. The very advanced, spectrally efficient QPSK modulation format, combined with the polarization multiplexing scheme, guarantees compatibility with 50 GHz optical channel spacing and more than doubles the capacities of conventional 40G transmission.

The PM100 modulators are sampling today to customers and general availability is expected in early 2011.

Oclaro Delivers 100Gb/s Transmission Speeds with its New LiNbO3 ‘PM100’ Modulators

Oclaro, Inc., a tier-one provider of optical communications and laser solutions, today announced its support for the upcoming 100Gb/s optical network applications with its new LiNbO3 “PM100” modulators.

With the addition of these new modulators, Oclaro now holds the industry’s most extensive portfolio of components for 100G across both the transmission and line applications, and its customers can benefit from faster time to market and a unique ability to quickly, easily and cost-effectively develop advanced transmission products.

“This announcement demonstrates Oclaro’s continued commitment to support the most advanced telecom applications and also highlights the success behind our recent investments in ClariPhy and Mintera,” said Adam Price, Executive Vice President and Division Manager at Oclaro. “As a result of these strategic moves, Oclaro is strongly positioned as a leader today in high-speed products at 40G with both DPSK and DQPSK transponders,

Oclaro Delivers Dynamic Spectrum Capabilities on Its 2x1 Wavelength Selective Switch

Dynamic Spectrum Technology Enables Telecom Operators to Upgrade to Very High-Speed Transmission Rates Without Having to Replace Network Equipment

Oclaro, Inc., a tier-one provider of innovative optical communications and laser solutions, today announced a new dynamic spectrum wavelength selective switch that provides telecommunications operators an upgrade path to deliver increased bandwidth in the future without having to replace costly networking equipment. While in the past, operators were limited to WSS with fixed bandwidth plans, the Oclaro dynamic spectrum 2x1 wavelength selective switch (WSS) is designed to support multiple and future modulation schemes for different filter widths, enabling operators to quickly, easily, and inexpensively meet the increasing demand for higher transmission speeds. The dynamic spectrum 2x1 WSS are fully compatible
