SOFTWARE UPDATE NEWS ABOUT DIGITAL MANUFACTURING TOOLS AND SOFTWARE

What Job Shops Need Most from ERP Implementations

s

Manufacturing Engineering: Please describe the Real- trac shop-fl oor ERP software. Bob Sakuta: Realtrac is a manufacturing software solu- tion for make-to-order manufacturers and job shops. Utilizing advanced business techniques, Realtrac is the easiest-to-use and fastest-to-learn software tool that maximizes personnel, machines and ultimately profi tability. ME: What’s new in the new Realtrac version 10? Sakuta: The most exciting advancement is the Right-

board, our recently released scheduling tool. This powerful vi- sual electronic whiteboard is currently in the process of being patented. Rightboard reacts in real time to ensure shops are running the right job at the right time on the right machine. By using this tool, manufacturers will dramatically increase their workfl ow, maximize their effi ciency, increase their on- time deliveries and improve production costs. All of these factors have a direct impact on the profi tability of a company.

The Realtrac Rightboard is a simple way for shops to schedule and organize work electronically by machine and visually show what jobs to run and in what order based on customer delivery requirements. When strategically placed on the shop fl oor or on a computer screen directly at their work- place, Rightboards serve as a visual tool for shop employees. This product allows the entire shop to run smoothly from job to job throughout the day and save precious machine and labor time to maximize productivity and workcenter utiliza- tion. Manufacturing companies can stop asking the question, ‘What am I supposed to work on next?’ Rightboard takes

the guesswork out of your scheduling, assists you in meeting customer-required delivery dates and gives you total shop fl oor control. The customers who beta-tested this product have described it as a game-changer, and a scheduling program that works. ME: Tell us about how your company acquired the Real- trac ERP software. Sakuta: I purchased Realtrac as a user in 1989 and I still believe it was the best business decision that I ever made. At the time, my company was a 10-person manufacturing supplier for the automotive industry. After much research, I chose the Realtrac system to drive my company into the 21st

century. Because of that decision, I now have an 8000%

increase in profi ts, four more companies in my portfolio, with one of them, Delta Research, being awarded a Top Shop 2014 award. In 2011, I purchased the company and I became involved in day-to-day operations and development.

“Rightboard reacts in real time to ensure shops are running the right job at the right time on the right machine.”

This decision was driven by a desire to share what helped us achieve our growth with others. Realtrac was bought know- ing that it was good—but that it could be great. I have set out to make that happen. Whether you’re a start-up shop or have a mature business model, Realtrac will help you. ME: What customers typically buy your ERP, and how has the software helped improve quality and productivity? Sakuta: Typical Realtrac customers are upset that their

shop fl oor is out of control, concerned with customer service due to late deliveries, and frustrated that they do not know if they are winning or losing money on jobs. We also hear from
