6. EXPLORE CHARLESTON As one of America’s oldest towns, Charleston is chock full of stories, secrets and mysteries. With a local expert, sightsee along cobblestone streets lined with centuries-old homes that lead to the harbour, past walled gardens that whisper tales of pirates, soldiers and statesmen; see the renowned military academy, The Citadel, and the Battery promenade. Spend the rest of the day exploring the city as you please; Charleston is a history lover’s delight – and one of the country’s culinary hotspots, with a great number of excellent restaurants, featuring Low Country cooking, housed in historic settings. Meals B

7. CAROLINA PLANTATIONS Venture outside of the city for a glimpse of Charleston-style country living. A privately guided visit at 18th-century plantation Drayton Hall, one of America’s best-preserved historic homes and resplendent in colonial architectural design, takes in three centuries of family stories, all who lived here without the modern conveniences of electricity or plumbing. A visit to 18th-century Middleton Place showcases one of the grandest of the three Ashley River Plantations; the mansion, built in 1755, is located on a bluff overlooking

America’s oldest landscaped gardens. Take a walk through the gardens, along with a tour of the mansion and stable yards. Return to Charleston and join us tonight for a farewell reception and dinner at the hotel. Meals BLD

8. JOURNEY HOME Tour ends: Charleston. Fly home anytime. A transfer from The Mills House Wyndham Grand Hotel to Charleston International Airport is included. Allow two hours for flight check-in at the airport. Meals B
