3. YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK This morning at your lodge, enjoy a Tauck Exclusive presentation by an American Indian artist-in-residence at Grand Teton National Park. As you leave for Yellowstone, view crystal-clear Jenny Lake in glacier-carved Cascade Canyon, one of the park’s best known awe-inspiring features. Arrive midday in Yellowstone National Park; established in 1872 as the United States’ first national park, it was the first of its kind in the world. Your accommodations are ideally located at the historic Old Faithful Inn. One of the best and earliest examples of the “National Park Service Rustic” style of resort architecture, the lodge was built of native lodgepole pine by young architect Robert Reamer in 1904 – just steps from the park’s most famous feature, Old Faithful Geyser. Approximately every 90 minutes, the geyser lives up to its name by shooting a plume of steam skyward... so be sure to have your camera ready! Explore the Upper Geyser Basin and learn more about Old Faithful this afternoon. Tonight’s à la carte dinner is at leisure at your hotel, where the great log-and-limb lobby rises seven stories and is dominated by a huge stone fireplace. Meals BLD
4. A GEOLOGIC WONDERLAND With 10,000 hot springs, thundering waterfalls, two-thirds of all geysers in the world and endless forests, Yellowstone National Park inspires awe everywhere you look. Explore some of its key geologic wonders today as you follow the Firehole River to the Fountain Paint Pot, which is just one of many bubbling, colourful mud pots you’ll find throughout the park. View the spectacular Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, carved over the millennia by volcanic events, glaciers, and the churning waters of the Yellowstone River. Lesser known than its famous rival of a similar name, this canyon is no less breathtaking in its drama and immensity, with torrential falls more than twice the height of Niagara’s, and jagged walls of pink, yellow, and orange, plunging 1,200 feet to the river below. As you travel through broad, open Hayden Valley on your way to your hotel, you might see herds of bison and elk. Spend tonight along the tranquil
shores of Yellowstone Lake at the historic Lake Yellowstone Hotel, where you’ll dine à la carte this evening. Meals BD
5. BUFFALO BILL’S LEGACY IN CODY A journey along winding mountain roads leads from Yellowstone National Park to the open oil and cattle lands found in western Wyoming’s cowboy country. Renowned as the “rodeo capital of the world,” historic Cody was founded by frontiersman William F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody in 1896. Learn more about his amazing life and legacy at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, including the Buffalo Bill Museum. This state-of-the-art complex is much more, however, than just the story of Buffalo Bill; its five museums are a celebration of the spirit of the American West, home to the world’s largest collection of artefacts depicting the culture, history and art of the West. You’ll explore Greater Yellowstone natural history, western art, cultural stories, histories of the Plains Indian peoples and more during your visit. Later have a
