10. GAELIC CULTURE & BELL’S INVENTIONS Visit the Gaelic College of Celtic Arts and Crafts at Englishtown, where you’ll learn about Nova Scotia’s Scottish Gaelic culture and watch a kilt-making demonstration, and continue on to the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site. Scottish inventor Alexander Graham Bell summered in Baddeck, Nova Scotia, after he and his family moved to Canada from Scotland, later setting up his laboratory in this picturesque village. Today’s tour takes you to see exhibits showcasing his inventions, from the telephone to ingenious kites, hydrofoils, airplanes and even the metal detector. Arrive this afternoon at the Liscombe Lodge Resort, in a wooded setting on the tranquil shores of the Liscomb River. A cooking demonstration before dinner shows you the secrets of making the perfect planked salmon, a speciality of the house. Then join us for a farewell cocktail reception and dinner. Meals BLD

11. LAKE CHARLOTTE / JOURNEY HOME Your journey in the Canadian Maritimes ends in Halifax where an afternoon transfer to the airport is included. En route to Halifax this morning, enjoy a stop in Memory Lane Heritage Village in Lake Charlotte for a visit to a general store that will take you back in time. The village is an award-winning living history museum that recreates life in rural Nova Scotia in the 1940s including life during and after the Second World War and features restored buildings, from a one-room schoolhouse and community church to an ice house, clam factory, typical family home and more, along with costumed interpreters. Tour ends: Halifax, Nova Scotia. Arrive at Halifax Airport; your return flight should not be booked before 1:30 PM. Guests who are staying longer will be taken to The Prince George Hotel in Halifax. Special accommodations note: The islands featured on Tauck’s Canadian Maritimes trip, particularly Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, are some of the most scenic – yet remote – destinations in Canada. The hotels included on this trip, such as the Keltic Lodge and Liscombe Lodge, were primarily selected for their location; they put guests right in the heart of the best places to visit. Seasonal travel in the Canadian Maritimes means that a few of your accommodations on this trip will not compare to Tauck’s hotels in other locations. We find – and expect you will find – that these hotels provide exceptional access to remote scenic treasures of the Maritimes, despite a few inconsistencies with the standards of other Tauck accommodations.
