equine news Wocket Woy to the wescue!

Internet sensations Wocket Woy & The Pwoducer, aka jump jockeys Mattie Batchelor and Marc Goldstein, have come to the rescue of the rider whose fall from a retired racehorse went viral on social media.

Almost three million people watched Nick Bull’s “quiet ride” on Shamrock turn into a nightmare as he hung on for dear life after the horse bolted. Cries of “Woah, Shamrock!” had no effect and Nick – who has been riding for only a year – was eventually thrown off, landing in thick mud on a track. Thankfully, he suffered no serious injuries.

Looking to perfect his riding technique, he called in Wocket Woy & The Pwoducer, who have almost 130,000 followers on Facebook and even more viewing their hilarious Saturday-morning videos. So the pair visited Nick in Bodmin, Cornwall, to give him a few tips. “He just needed to hone some of his widing skills,” said Mattie. “He could be weally badly injured if he fell off Shamwock again and ended up wolling awound on the gwound. The Pwoducer and I are always glad to share our

expewiences and contwibute to wider safety.”

Marc added: “On reviewing Nick’s video, we could see immediately where he went wrong. So we got him up on a pretend horse to practise his vocals, then moved him to his 14-year-old daughter Abby’s Thoroughbred, Olive, while Mattie instructed him from on board Shamrock. We could see Nick’s confidence gradually build up with our tuition, so we put him back on Shamrock and showed him how to do the unique Wocket Woy move, which would really help in a future situation.” Nick praised Wocket Woy & The Pwoducer’s techniques. “No one else could have delivered the ‘alternative’ training methods they employed,” he said. “After putting their tips into practice, Shamrock was soon behaving himself again and I felt confident enough to ride him back home from the school.” Wocket Woy & The Pwoducer can be seen taking Nick through his paces in their latest Saturday- morning video at www.facebook. com/WocketWoy – or go straight to the full-length film at https://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=iV6oUjor0j0

Facebook enforces ban on animal sales

Facebook has recently cracked- down on the sale of horses on its site. The policy of this international social media network has always been that horses, and other animals, are not to be sold on its site, but for many years this regulation has not been upheld. However, over the past few months a number of adverts have been taken down, leaving sellers, both professional and private, exasperated. Facebook’s policy clearly states that items, products and services sold on the site must comply with its commerce policy, which prohibits the sale of certain items, including animals. Petitions and protest groups

have been launched including “Get Facebook to Rescind the Ban on Animal Sale Posts”, which has over 33,900 signatures. The petition will be delivered to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
