Our tester, Pam Harrison, says: These were subjected to a ‘full on’ test from the day they arrived and have been worn nearly every day since. Comfortable and lightweight, they are close fitting so those annoying bits of hay don’t get down inside as easily and best of all, they don’t keep hold of your socks when you take them off, a huge plus because I really hate that! The ‘handle’ sized holes at the top of the legs on each side are a bit of a novelty, but help you to pull the wellies on more easily. The sizing is good and whilst I haven’t tested them in snow, so I’m not sure how warm they’d be in that type of weather, my feet haven’t felt cold during the test period. They definitely don’t slip on frost or the sort of glutinous ‘wallpaper- paste’ type of mud we have all too often, so are good for turning out and bringing in safely. Neat and easy to wear, I like the both the functionality and how these wellies look; put them on your shopping list.
Georgia in Dublin – Dublette Rainjacket
The company says: An elegant, light weight and waterproof jacket, designed to expand over a back protector and/or bulky layers. When the bungees on the back and down the sleeves are tightened, it takes on its most elegant form with a cinched waist and fishtail swing at the back. The removable cape adds extra waterproofing on the shoulders which take the brunt of heavy rain. Other features include an adjustable integrated hood, underarm ventilation zips, and noiseless, waterproof fabric with a soft handle and reflective detail on the back and sleeves. Navy, Khaki Green, Ivory, Red, Hi-vis Pink and Hi-vis Orange. Sizes: Petite (4-8); Medium (8-14); Large (16-20). RRP: €180.00 (approx. £154.00)

Our tester, Maria Phillips, says: Specifically designed for the rider in mind it fits every criteria that both the professional and leisure rider would desire. Having tested it in the challenging weather conditions that we have had recently, I can honestly say that this coat has stood up to both wind and rain in bucketfuls. More suited to spring/ summer conditions as it is a lightweight garment, it really is very stylish. Mine came in a lovely coral red colour, with contrasting reflective piping around the cape. It features a hood which folds out of the collar and a long fishtail at the back of the jacket to cover the saddle cantle. Incorporating style and practicality I particularly liked the design on the sleeves and back, where the jacket is laced with elastic to allow the wearer to adjust the fit. The pockets are seamless to prevent water from penetrating and are ample to fit small items in. There is also a phone pocket inside. The honeycomb lining wicks away moisture and tabs on the outside under the arms prevent the cape from flapping, but if necessary the cape can be removed. Only a hand wash is required to wash this garment and I followed the manufacturer’s instructions not to use detergents. Left to drip dry it came up beautifully. An asset to every rider’s wardrobe.

Our tester, Jack Clarkson, says: Socks are an essential for everyone, but for anyone who requires good quality boot socks, these are impressive. They were true to size and plenty long enough in the leg to go over the top of a pair of wellies or riding boots if you need them to. Offering warmth and softness as well as a good fit they also stay up well. The colour combination on the pair I’ve had, olive green with mahogany tops was very smart. Fortunately they wash very well and come back looking good as new ready for more hard work. This pair of socks has been put through some very hard work recently as they have been a sturdy piece of work-wear through lambing, calving and riding out. They have shown no marks of wear and tear despite their continuous use, washing and drying. Everyone needs to have at least one pair of these in their outdoor kit.
Mark Todd – Elasticated Leather Belt

Our tester, Val Williams, says: A really lovely accessory. Beautifully made from a stretch material with three long pieces of leather in the centre and both ends. They are very ornate with a lovely pattern and stitching all around the leather pattern. The buckle is good and strong and the piece where the leather goes through is double-stitched as well. Because it is elasticated it is extremely comfortable to wear. This belt is so useful as it is smart to wear for social occasions and for riding. A really nice present for someone or a treat for yourself.

Our tester, Josella Scott, says: Finding anything negative to say about these boots has been difficult. This model is described as a ‘High’ boot but I would describe them more as a 3/4 boot. The only issue I had was the width of calf as they proved to be a bit snug in that department, but they have softened with wear. They have proved to be one of the best ‘all-round’ working boots I have worn. They may not be the most elegant, but they are durable, tough, comfortable, well made and very warm. (Great in the depths of winter). They are also super value, especially compared to some of the more expensive brands. You know, the ones that cost in excess of an eye-watering £180 or more and invariably don’t last for years of hard labour. I am confident these boots will be as comfortable and ‘all of the above’ many years from now.
