SIGN News Applelec invest £80,000 in new paint facility
Applelec has invested in a new, dual-pur- pose powder coating and wet spray plant as part of the continuing development of the company’s 6.3 acre Wharfedale Business Park in Bradford.
The new facility has a five metre wide Mod- ulair Waterwash Spraybooth, large and small drying ovens and an auto-wash ma- chine that is used to prepare materials prior to painting.
The generous internal measurements of the large oven can accommodate the largest single sign tray panels possible from a stan- dard 4m aluminium sheet. Sign panels con- sisting of multiple sections, built-up letters, flat cut letters and snap frames can all be painted in the new facility. The second oven is ideal for quick, low volume projects such as small sets of letters or prototypes and is more economical to run for such jobs.
The new paint shop means Applelec man- ages all sign manufacture and related processes in-house from fabrication to paint, LED population to wiring, and any re- quired programming. The ability to paint in- house makes sure Applelec can accommodate last minute scheduling changes such as a customer requiring ad- ditional letters. The facility will also be avail- able for their customers to use for paint projects including overflow work.

Andy Armitage, head of signage sales at Applelec, said: "Due to space restrictions at our old factory, a paint shop was never possible. Following letter fabrication or sign panel construction, items had to be driven to our painters and then returned to Applelec.
Stocksigns welcomes new group managing director
Danny Adamson has been appointed as group managing director for The Stocksigns Group. Based in Redhill, the company man- ufactures and supplies a range of signage solutions from health and safety signs to LED digital displays.
Danny joined Stocksigns in September 2015 as sales and marketing director, and eventually his responsibilities were extended to include Messagemaker Displays.
As group MD, Danny will integrate the indi- vidual businesses within the group to create
a total offering, which combines traditional signage, graphics and digital display solu- tions.
