PRODUCT News Creative walls

Avery Dennison’s new MPI 8000 Series of multi-purpose inkjet wall films provide cre- ative solutions for a variety of wall graphics and decorations.

Available from William Smith, these films can be applied to a range of wall finishes and interior applications, such as treated wood, latex painted, plastered and concrete walls.

MPI 8726 textured wall film comes in stone, canvas and stucco finishes, with high opac- ity to cover underlying surfaces. It is a flexi- ble yet tough and scuff-resistant white calendered premium vinyl, says the company; and its hi-tack permanent clear acrylic adhesive performs well on difficult surfaces.

MPI 8626 is a matt white, high opacity cal- endered vinyl film with hi-tack permanent acrylic adhesive. This makes it suitable to apply to slightly structured surfaces, as well as low energy substrates, such as polyeth- ylene and polypropylene.

MPI 8024 is a premium high performance calendered film with EA hi-tack permanent clear acrylic adhesive, with Avery Dennison’s Easy Apply air-release technol- ogy. This makes it faster to apply, and bubble-free on flat and slightly structured surfaces.

Avery Dennison's new wall films, available from William Smith, provide many creative solutions for wall decorations.

MPI 8621 satin white calendered vinyl film comes with a clear acrylic removable adhe- sive. It can be applied to most wall surfaces and has been tested and recommended for use over many kinds of paint. Its thick face film gives "stability and enables reductions in application time".

All Avery Dennison MPI 8000 Series films have been developed specifically to use on a variety of super-wide format latex, solvent, eco-solvent and UV printers.

SCIGRIP scales up UK production of acrylic adhesive

SCIGRIP, who supply adhesive solutions globally, has scaled up production of their acrylic bonding system SG42 at their UK facility, to respond to customer demand.

Acrylic and PMMA adhesives are increas- ingly

replacing mechanical joining

techniques due to the products high strength, high modulus and superior adhesion capabilities says the company. But until now, SG42 was only manufactured at SCIGRIP’s US headquarters, which resulted in extended lead times for Euro- pean customers.

SCIGRIP 42 is formulated to bond acrylic, acrylic to polyester, cellulose acetate bu- tyrate and polycarbonate plus a range of other substrates. The high strength system is used with great success in the sign and display and plastic fabrication industries, says the company. It's particularly effective where good clarity retention is required such as aquariums, windows, windscreens and display cases.

14 Sign Update ISSUE 167 NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2016

Following a site upgrade and installation of the latest mixing equipment at SCIGRIP’s facility in Washington in Tyne and Wear, they can formulate the acrylic adhesive in substantial volumes.

“We appreciate the untapped potential within the European sign and display market and plastics fabrication industries and look to further develop SCIGRIP’s profile in this sector”, says Tim Johnson, SCIGRIP’s European Sales and Marketing Manager.
