TARGETING GENDER IMBALANCE IN CONSTRUCTION AND ENGINEERING

City of Glasgow College is working with a range of partners to promote opportunities for women interested in pursuing a career in the construction and engineering sectors. Our “Women Into” courses have been welcomed by the industry and have resulted in a significant increase in enrolments, work placements and public awareness of the gender imbalance in each sector. We are now well ahead of the industry average for female participation in training for these sectors. Paul Little, Principal and Chief

Executive of the College, stated “With more than 2500 courses for our students to choose from and a new state-of-the-art campus dedicated to science, technology, engineering and mathematics, we

are proud to be redefining College education. We are confident that pioneering initiatives, such as our women into engineering classes – the first to be offered in the UK – will become a benchmark in attracting female participation to the engineering sector.” The College is committed to its

responsibility towards developing a highly-skilled and employable female talent pool. We are keen to engage with partners who can support this initiative through work experience, guest lectures and employment opportunities.
