NEW MEMBER Ashurst
NEW MEMBER Lingo Flamingo
Very warm welcome to our new members A
shurst is a leading global law firm that has had an office in Glasgow since
August 2013.
It has a different approach to many law firms, with the office, which is based in Central Exchange on Waterloo Street, hosting a new legal sourcing model and teams from Ashurst’s global business support functions.
Te legal sourcing model is focused on a team of legal analysts, which the firm describes as high-calibre law graduates trained across a range of workstreams in different legal areas. Te firm says this allows the more efficient delivery of certain types of work, including
that with recurring activity. Led by Managing Partner Mike Polson, and comprising about 40 legal analysts with the additional support of a Finance Partner and qualified associate solicitors, the Glasgow legal team works across the firm’s international network. Te firm’s Glasgow legal services include due diligence support, litigation support and project co-ordination and administration.
Te Waterloo Street office provides a central base for many of Ashurst’s global business support functions including Finance, HR, IT Risk and Compliance, Business Development and Business Services and provides support to all of the firm’s 28 global offices.

ingo Flamingo is a recently formed social enterprise that provides tailored foreign
language workshops to vulnerable adults to help batle against dementia, brain ageing and other forms of mental illness. Te social enterprise’s
approach is based on research that shows that speaking multiple languages can delay the onset of dementia by up to five years. More generally, being
bilingual also helps the brain in other ways by increasing reading comprehension and boosting logic, mathematical skills,
workshops also reduce feelings of isolation among older and vulnerable people, giving them a ‘safe haven’ and a place to learn new skills. Robbie Norval, who was
inspired by his grandmother who has dementia, set up Lingo Flamingo. Te business is based in the Orkney Street Business Centre in Govan. Lingo Flamingo is recruiting
a first team of tutors who will cover the west of Scotland. It plans to expand its work
to cover the whole of Scotland, with tutors based in Dundee, Edinburgh, Stirling and Ayr.
