SECURE YOUR BUSINESS BY UPSKILLING THE WORKFORCE

Tere are further ways to strengthen your business from the inside, with additional training for current employees. With their administrative

headquarters based in Glasgow’s Hydepark Street, ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) has a phenomenal success rate and offers firms high-quality training for staff. Established in 1904, ACCA

has grown to include 91 offices and centres globally and offers accountancy training on a full-time or part-time basis around work. Explaining the important

role his organisation plays, Craig Vickery, Head of ACCA Scotland, said: “ACCA offers a suite of qualifications catering for everyone of ability and ambition who wish to enter the finance profession. Ranging from entry-level technician qualifications, requiring no prior knowledge or experience with free tuition through our ACCA-X

courses, to the professional ACCA qualification. “In Scotland alone we have

more than 9000 members and students and worldwide well over 600,000.” ACCA has become so

popular, locally and globally, that one person registers every eight minutes, every day of the year with the Glasgow contact centre, which is open 24/7, 365 days a year. Craig added: “In June 2015,

we launched ACCA-X free tuition for the first two levels of our foundations in accountancy qualifications and from January we have introduced low-cost tuition for the final level. Tere has been a fantastic take-up as it allows employers to up-skill their workforce easily and cost-effectively with courses running quarterly. “ACCA members bring

value to the businesses they work in, thinking ahead with a broad skill-set. “Members of ACCA are an

asset to any organisation. Last year, ACCA recruited more students in Scotland than any other accountancy body.”

ADVERTORIAL

LEADERSHIP IN ISO 9001:2015 – WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR TODAY’S SENIOR MANAGEMENT?

The move from the term Management Responsibility to use of the term Leadership is one of the most significant and far-reaching changes to ISO 9001:2015; clause 5.1.1 identifies specific aspects of the quality management system where top management are expected to demonstrate both leadership and commitment. Previously this could be

delegated to the Management Representative, however with the deletion of the requirement for that role the onus is now on the Senior Management to take over accountability for the effectiveness of their organisation’s quality management system. Senior Management

must now ensure that their organisation’s quality policy and quality objectives are consistent with the organisation’s overall strategic direction and the context in which the organisation is operating; they must also work alongside their people in order to ensure that the quality objectives are achieved. Moreover, Senior Management must ensure that the quality policy is communicated, understood and applied across the organisation. This could amount to a

considerable amount of focus on the top management of an organisation; therefore if you are in Senior Management and you have concerns regarding the inclusion of this enhanced responsibility for you and

your team then we can guide you through it; we are highly experienced consultants and senior consultants who can advise the best route for your organisation through this and any of the other enhancements to ISO 9001:2015. Conversely, if you are a management systems auditor then you must seek evidence that top management has a “hands-on” approach to the management of their quality management system; you must understand which ISO 9001:2015 requirements top management can delegate and which they cannot. Furthermore auditors will need to ensure that they are equipped to challenge top management in respect of their commitment to their quality management systems. We provide a full suite of IRCA

approved ISO 9001:2015 training courses to take management system auditors clause by clause through the changes to their role in ensuring that Senior Management are fully addressing and meeting the new requirements.
