» Lindsays volunteers embrace the charity initiative

t the start of 2015, Lindsays launched a unique charity initiative as part of

the firm’s bicentenary celebrations. Partners and staff were offered the chance to devote 200 hours during the working day to help community groups of their choice. Alasdair Cummings,

Lindsays’ Managing Partner,

said: “Te objective was simple – to support local community projects by enabling our people to invest time in causes which mater personally to them.” Te enthusiasm and

commitment from across the firm surpassed expectations and resulted in 200 hours becoming 350-plus hours. Teams identified projects and communities they could help,

and groups from different offices swapped their business suits for tools, paint brushes and wellies, to support a variety of charities. Across Lindsays’ five offices in Scotland, more than 350 hours of firm time was invested, more than 120 partners and staff got involved, and 28 projects were delivered to support 19 different charities and local community organisations.

Specialist charity, Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus (SBH) Scotland is celebrating its 50th year of support and advocacy for people affected by the lifelong, complex conditions. It celebrated its 50th birthday in October when more than 100 members joined a special party hosted by SBH Scotland Ambassador, John Amabile. The event marked the launch

of SBH Scotland’s ‘With A Little Help From Our Friends’ campaign, a year-long anniversary appeal with a host of events and activities that supporters can take part in, all with the aim of raising £1 million to continue its full-range of support. The charity is hoping

companies and individuals will choose to support it in this very special year by taking part in activities such as the Kiltwalk or Zipslide, or by organising innovative events such as coffee mornings, comedy nights and duck races. SBH Scotland Fundraising

Director, Deborah Roe, said: “Our achievements are a result of the generous support from friends past and present. Friends who share our vision of enabling all those with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus to live the best life possible.” Visit www.sbhscotland.org.
