10. TRANSPORT LINKS
Following our continued lobbying for rail access to Glasgow Airport, a rail link is now guaranteed courtesy of funding provided by the City Deal. Glasgow City Council and Renfrewshire Council have published development options and the next stage business case is being put to the City Deal Cabinet. Tere is growing evidence from Glasgow
Airport’s performance that the market demand for rail access will now be higher than it was when the original proposal was made with the greatly increased numbers of inbound passengers.
11. GLASGOW AIRPORT
Glasgow Chamber has given continued support to the airport and the vital contribution that air links make to the city region’s economy. Tis has included supporting bids for new
direct flights into the airport, which, primarily through the efforts of the Glasgow Airport team, has secured 27 new flights in 2015.
12. PRESIDENT’S CLUB
Tis year we have consolidated the President’s Club, sponsored by City of Glasgow College, into a solid team of more than 200 senior
leaders at home and more than 60 senior leaders overseas. A key unseen contribution is the quiet
behind the scenes connecting of ‘home’ and ‘away’ President’s Club members, which has led to some very fruitful business opportunities being explored.
13. FIRST BUSINESS EVENT WITH THE NEW FIRST MINISTER
Glasgow Chamber hosted the first business event with Nicola Sturgeon aſter the Glasgow
MSP became First Minister. Te March Glasgow Talks event immediately followed her launch of the Scotish Government Economic Strategy.
14. PUBLIC RELATIONS AWARD SUCCESS
A Glasgow Chamber of Commerce campaign was honoured at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations Pride Awards. Te Tomorrow’s City Centre launch,
including a drone flight conducted with the help of our PR company Te BIG Partnership, was
