GCU STUDENTS TEAM UP WITH SPFL TRUST


Multimedia Journalism and Media & Communication students from Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) have teamed up with the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) Trust to tell the stories behind the beautiful game. Twenty students have signed


up to work with the SPFL Trust to produce news packages and editorial to showcase the ongoing community projects delivered by the Clubs in partnership with the Trust and to uncover Club news. The Trust works with Scotland’s


Alison Walker, Board of SPFL Trust, student Ronnie Charters and Claire Dean, Lecturer in Broadcast and Online Journalism at Glasgow Caledonian University


42 professional football clubs to facilitate the delivery of community projects, including its flagship programme Football Fans in Training, aimed at improving health and wellbeing. Through its many initiatives, the Trust/ Clubs use sport to engage with communities to transform lives.

lasgow’s latest conference and events venue hosted the Beatson Cancer


Charity Ambassador event, atended by Commonwealth Games Champion, Eilidh Child. Eilidh became an ambassador


in 2014 to support the charity and help them on their fundraising mission. Te Beatson is the UK’s busiest


cancer care centre, servicing about 50 per cent of the Scotish population. Te money raised will go towards enhanced medical equipment, research and education, as well as improving the range of support and care


services available for patients and their families. Te 200 SVS team was keen to


raise some money for the charity and kicked off its fundraising efforts by completing Tough Mudder. Te events team ditched their heels for trainers, chefs swapped spatulas for monkey bars, spa therapists leſt their realm of serenity and entered the muddy madness and raised £1,000. At the event, Kim Wilson,


Managing Director at 200 SVS, presented David Welch, CEO of the Beatson Cancer Charity with a cheque for £20,000 as a further donation. 200 SVS is delighted to be supporting this charity.
