Christmas Town, USA McAdenville, NC www.mcadenville-christmastown.com

The quiet town of McAdenville, which lies along the South Fork River in Gaston County, NC, comes alive in spectacular fashion during the holiday season. Almost overnight, this small textile town transforms to become “Christmas Town, USA.”

In 1956, the McAdenville Men’s Club con- ceived the idea of using lights to decorate a few trees around the McAdenville Community Center. In future years, the trees around the lake were decorated, too, and a manger scene was added.

As of 2014,more than 375 live trees were being decorated in the town, ranging from 6-feet to more than 90-feet tall. A favorite spot for viewers remains the lake, which is situated near the heart of town. Here, 33 trees circle the lake and range in size from 12- to 40-feet. A fountain in the center jets water 75-feet into the air, and lights shin- ing on the fountain go through a sequence of red, green, blue and amber.

Town residents play a big part in creating Christmas Town USA, as they decorate

What's more - there is no cost to see Christmas Town USA. It is done purely for the love of the season and to bring a bit of merriment and joy to all who visit.
