10 Years Of Pentair Intelliflo® Has Transformed Pool Market

Pentair’s IntelliFlo® variable-

speed pump, which can cut energy bills by as much as 90% compared with conventional single-speed pumps, has disproved initial theories that its cost might

discourage potential customers. At its launch in 2005, Pentair backed IntelliFlo® with extensive

publicity and trainings towards the pool trade, all in order to demonstrate the long-term benefits of the new pump, and also outlining the business opportunity in new and retrofit installation for the millions of in-ground pools worldwide. As a result of its foresight, Pentair maintained the industry’s only integrated variable speed pump for five years in a row.

In fact, pool owners have been quick to grasp the concept of true cost of ownership – that the cost of owning energy-consuming equipment is not the cost of the energy it consumes, nor its capital cost, but the sum of amortised capital cost, energy and maintenance costs. The largest of these items is always the cost of the energy the equipment uses over its lifetime. Thanks to IntelliFlo’s®

ability to

reduce its speed and therefore energy consumption when the pool is not use, Pentair managed to introduce the pump effectively to the residential market. Since 2005, Pentair’s IntelliFlo®

pool pumps have saved over 4.2

billion kilowatt-hours (kWh), equivalent to the energy used by 147,000 homes in a year. At €0,12/kWh, estimated savings range from €170 to €440 per year. Hundreds of thousands of units of the IntelliFlo®

have

been sold worldwide since 2005, showing this is a proven and reliable concept. The power saved by all these units is equivalent to the output of four nuclear power stations. IntelliFlo®

variable-speed pumps equal high efficiency!

Doubling Up On DURAbility

Responding to rising demands for its popular DURA and DURA+ heat pumps, Golden Coast has significantly increased its stock – to avoid disappointing the growing pool of customers choosing Duratech’s efficient, quiet performance and durability. Both ranges, which are covered by a two-year warranty, benefit from titanium heat exchangers, which ensure that they are highly resistant to corrosion by salt, chlorine and bromine.

“They’ve quickly become a top choice for installers because of their very high specification and unmatched reliability,” says Golden Coast Managing Director Jamie Adams. “Created in Belgium by Propulsion Systems, their design makes good use of titanium, PVC and other durable materials – ensuring they’ll have a long and reliable product life.”

The pumps boast high coefficients of performance, and by 24 August 2015 SPN

extracting heat from the environment they run much more economically than conventional heating and cooling systems. For each kW consumed by the heat pump, 5kW or more can be returned to the pool. Meanwhile, the design of their compressors, fans and ventilators keeps noise levels down to little more than a whisper. In the UK, Duratech DURA and DURA+ heat pumps are available exclusively through Golden Coast, the country’s biggest independent distributor of wet leisure products to the trade.
