NEWS Celebrating The Stars Of Water Safety
The leisure and aquatics industry turned out in force to celebrate the stars of water safety at the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) and IQL UK National Awards 2015. With seven new categories, the ceremony was the largest to date recognising the vital contribution made by individuals and organisations in pool safety and drowning prevention in the UK. Now in their third year, the awards are the most important in the water safety industry and give those responsible for water safety – Lifeguards, Trainer Assessors, National Trainer Assessors and Approved Training Centres – the opportunity to recognise and celebrate those who continually raise standards and make such a valuable contribution to pool safety and drowning prevention.
The awards were hosted by the renowned sports scientist, Olympian and physical activity expert, Professor Greg Whyte OBE, at Chesford Grange in Kenilworth on Friday 12 June.
Martin Symcox, Director of IQL UK, said:
“We introduced seven new awards this year to recognise best practice across the wider industry and have been overwhelmed by the quality of entrants. These awards showcase some of the fantastic work being done to save lives in and around pools and the standards get higher each year.

The Mosaic Company’s Expanding Range Builds On Success
The challenge facing the new owners of ‘The Mosaic Company’ was to build on the success of the former owners who had established an unparalleled reputation for professional service and who had over many years assembled a comprehensive range of products. After relocating the business to premises in Bristol and after a period of consolidation, the company has set about expanding its product offering specific to the UK swimming pool and spa industry.
Of particular interest to the spa builders will be the introduction of new ranges of glass mosaic, including iridescent and metallic glazes along with a range in a contemporary hexagonal format. Circular mosaics in 15 colours have also been introduced to great acclaim. The range with six colours is available in a grade ‘C’ anti slip option and looks set to be a best seller. For the larger scale in-ground pool builders, a comprehensive range of pool surround products from Rosa Gres

of Barcelona is now available. These products offer the complete solution to any project and include all the special pieces required to complete the most ambitious project.
In response to feedback from customers a range of affordable anti slip porcelain pool surround tiles has also been introduced. Available in 24 colours and in sizes from 300 x 300mm to 450 x 900mm, most are also available in an R10 grade ‘C’ anti slip option too. SPATEX was a great success for the company and planning is already in hand for next year’s show, where further expansions to the range will be shown. Great strides have also been made in merchandising the new products with bespoke sets of wallets now available to show all aspects of the range and the company’s representatives are always keen to visit new customers and furnish them with all the samples they need.
