At Direct Owner, we believe that part of buying a house is knowing where you’re going to live. Not just the geographical area, but also the heart of the town itself. By this we mean: shopping, sports, entertainment, going out and culture. It’s one reason that we’ve been blogging about Moraira for some time now under the ‘LOVE MORAIRA’ banner. We know from what buyers have said that it helps swing the deal if considering 2 properties in different towns. Through our marketing, we let potential buyers know about the property, the area and what life here really means.

In June, Moraira celebrated its 25th Moors and Christians parade and associated events. It’s become a wonderful spectacle and tradition, so much so that it’s been featured on Spanish TV!

Moors and Christians, commemorate the battles between Moors (Muslims) and Christians during the Reconquista (from the 8th century to the 15th). The festivals celebrate the capture of the city by the Moors and subsequent recapture by Christians. The highlight of the festival in Moraira is the lavish parade through the town. Local groups dress in elaborate costumes and march - well walk slowly - through the town and usually ends with music and fireworks. The local council close roads allowing the public to watch in complete safety. It’s a fantastic spectacle for all the family.

Soon after we celebrate the Moors and Christians, we celebrate San Juan where on the

night of the 23rd of June for 1 night only beach barbecues and bonfires are allowed. This is mostly celebrated in Europe and widely along the coasts of Spain and Portugal - a Christian fiesta of pagan origin.

In July Moraira will celebrate its town fiestas from the 11th - 19th of July Fiesta of “Nuestra Señora de los Desamparados y Virgen del Carmen”. Festivities and processions, including maritime procession (16th) and firework display (15th & 16th) followed by “Els Bous a la mar” (bull running into the sea).

Moraira is a great place to live and buy property. It has so much to offer not just tourists but those of us living here. We’re happy to promote the town, as well as, of course your property. If you feel it’s time for a change of estate agent, one that cares about where people live and actively promote that aspect, then call me, Elena, on 966 829 503 and have a chat to see how we can add that little extra to getting your house sold quickly.
